just read on msnbc. a 63 year old man was hiking in olympic national park {washington state}. when he was approached by a mountain goat. looks like he atempted to shoo it away; but the goat had a bad attitude and gored him in the thigh. the goat was still standing over the man {"who's my bitch"}, when the park rangers showed. they had to throw rocks at it to get it to go away. the man died in the hospital a short time later. the goat was tracked down and killed, then sent out to be analyzed.
strangley enough i've been looking into mountain goat hunting. doesn't sound like an animal thats easy to get close to.
but that would be my luck. out hunting for days and never see one. put my rifle down to take leak; then have one come up behinde me and demand my wallet.

Have you seen the America's Funniest Videos with the two hunters walking down the dirt road and being followed by a flock of Turkeys:eek:

i had young engineer that worked for me that went to yellow stone national park on vacation. the buffalo roam all around the place. he slapped one on the tail and it gored him in the groin area. he made the national news :icon_biggrin: every time he caused a problem i would remind him of screwing with the "bull," you get the horns. he would just shut up. end of conversation.

They had a bear killed by a truck nearby and found three sets of little silver bells and two cans of unopened beer in his belly.
Saw notice that Forest Ranger's was looking for three anti gun liberals and one good old boy out for a walk after dinner last seen drinking beer!!!

I will have to look that one up, I went through there for my Sabatical last year and I want to do a long distance hike out there someday.
But as Tanker said, I am not going out in the woods without a gun, dang I live out here in the woods I tempted to carry mowing my lawn.
can you say 454 Casull?

Goat had a history of being aggresive... for four years, people knew about this ONE goat - just a matter of time - and after the attack, his buddies couldn't get to him to help - it stood over the body - they tried throwing rocks ... umm... rocks? Hot lead would have worked better!!!
To go out into the wilderness unarmed is just insane...

Since DELIVERANCE was filmed 10 minutes from here, that's good advice. I have a T-shirt that says "Paddle faster, I hear banjo music." Those were two-legged animals.

These would be pretty easy to shoot, but retrieving them might be a little bit difficult.
