Anybody ever played with one of these?
I'm planning on selling my 4wheeler and maybe a few other things to help fund one of these. I'm back enrolled in school and am getting a "flexible" job closer to the house, so it makes sense to have something that gets 100 mpg and doesn't need a motorcycle license. The F250 is a MAJOR money hog on fuel ESPECIALLY when I rarely get going over 45 mph during my daily commute.
I'll probably wait til after deer season, but I plan on selling my 4wheeler and my Bow and Bowstand (not into bowhunting... I gave it a try.) to pick one up that I can use here and even out at the lease as transportation to/from the deer blind.

Sorry JFowl... my bad. I guess that the 'Ruckus' is the item I'm to know about. Was referring to the 'playing with his down by the creek' in a thread the other day. Sorry pal, am not familiar with a Honda Rukus; will need to look it up tho. Yeah.. the F250 is a gas hog!

I'm with you now haha.
The Ruckus is a Mad Max looking scooter with tons of aftermarket support.

That actually looks pretty cool.... not your average scooter.
You don't need a MC license? My sister had a scooter for a while in college, and as I recall she had to get a license. But that was AZ of course, not TX.
I keep thinking of replacing my commuting car, but man, it gets between 40 and 50 mpg depending on conditions, every time I get close to 50 I think I'd be crazy to give it up as long as its running.
That reminds me, I saw something really crazy in Tularosa, NM last week,

YES! I love those things! I've ridden the poo out of a few. I've got a scooter too. Parents weren't too down with a motorcycle and since they're paying for school I would rather not upset them. I went for something with a bigger motor, 150cc but mostly for the acceleration.
I love Ruckuses though. Can't have enough fun on them. Plus I don't feel as bad dropping one because they look at rugged and stuff. It'd be a different story with a vespa

The main reason I like them is not having to spend $$ and time on taking the motorcycle license course. They are exempt from that and only require a class C driver's license because they are under 50cc. And insurance can be as cheap as $75 a YEAR for liability!
Maybe eventually if I get bitten by the scooter bug I'll get something bigger or maybe just buy a little motorcycle...
yeah I got the license but I got it out of the way now because I know I'll get a motorcycle eventually. Scooters are a hoot to ride though. Actually I think I can safely say anything with two wheels and a motor is fun.

From what I read, the new Ruckus is a dog, nothing like the big Ruckus, which has a 250cc motor, the only thing is the New Ruckus just looks different. Nothing like a moped, but heck the scooter mopeds might not be that bad and much cheaper.
There is one near here for 1200 or make best offer. I think you can get a 50 scoter for far less than that used. Heck there are new scooters here for 699 in plano.
As for lic and regestration, OK treates them as MC's thus you pay tax, and insurance and have to have a lic. Tx and other states treat them as motorized bicycles. THus cheaper ins and no lic. Heck to get the 250 scooter I got last week tagged and insursed will be only 150 a year and I can get that up to seventy or more.

See I'm by no means going for fast or powerful.... point A to point B at a slow pace is just fine by me.
And I refuse to be seen on a Vespa or similar looking scooter.......... I've made fun of those guys way to many times in my past to be seen on one of those. The looks and aftermarket support for the Ruckus is what attracts me to it. The fact that its got a tride and true Honda 4-stroke on it is just icing.
Sure I could get one cheaper that is also a 50cc... but it wouldn't be cool, it would just be... well... "Austin-y" and that isn't something I strive to be. Otherwise I'd be wearing a yellow jersey and riding my bike on 70 mph speed limit roads like a dipshit.
