Thanks to all of you for the help.
Finally got my CIA Cetme up to spec. The ground bolt is gone. I replaced everything with new parts, a new bolt, new bolt carrier, new locking piece, new U.S. made flash hider, new wood stocks, U.S. made FAL inch-pattern magazine floor plates, new +4 rollers.
Had to take some metal off the end of the new bolt carrier. I now have a true .025" cocking tube gap and a .010" bolt gap (almost .011" but a little tight on the feller gauge.)
Front sight is good and centered, shooting 3 inch groups @ 100 yds. with Winchester white box fmj. Barrel is original Spanish with some wear, but good rifling.
Good to go!:g3:
Next purchase in the future is going to be a PTR-91 or an DSA FAL.

I will have to read the sticky and try to post pictures. Not saying I'm old, but when I rode with Gen. Stonewall Jackson, we didn't have digital camera's or PC's.:book:

MikeI ordered a good used one from APEX and also ordered a new one from Jorge in Spain. The one from Apex was very good as it gave me the same bolt gap as the new one from Spain. Both APEX and Jorge are great to order from.
Originally, the CIA ground bolt gave me a bolt gap of .008"-.009" if I remember correctly, now I have a true bolt gap of .010" with the new parts. Just gives me a better piece of mind.

Nice Job on the Century Cetme, you are doing what I did a number of years ago First the Cetme then the DSA FAL then a PTR91
Moving up the food chain....way to go.

Thank all you fellows for the good comments.
Now, I have to decide which to pursue next, PTR-91 or DSA FAL? Any comments would be helpful! The PTR would be used to set up a scope, probably with a good HK claw mount. This would be like the HK-91 that I use to own and like an idiot sold years ago.
Never shot an FAL, but have looked over several at gunshows, but they looked like mismatched mutants someone had cobbled together. Like to get a good DSA if I went that route.

Thank each and everyone for the comments. Just a plain ole' Cetme and you fellows make me feel real good about it.
Thanks TXbrenek for the warning, I won't shoot any ammo from the Dum Dum Arsenal!
Just a backround story of when I bought the CETME. I found the rifle at a gunshow, a typical CIA "Blackwidow." The guy and his son (about 30 years old) had some tables set up. I told him I had alot of problems with CIA weapons before and was hesitant. "Oh this rifle shoots great. I hit real good with it at 200 yards. Seems to be dead on. It belongs to my son."
I believe the son was going to redo the rifle but gave up, because after typical gunshow "poker game" I got the rifle, 5 HK mags, a 5 mag canvas pouch, two new wood buttstocks, a new wood fore-end, with all the metal parts except the long buttstock screw, five plastic pistol grips (Not U.S. made), and a CETME original flash supressor, out the door for $600 cash. The price was fair in my estimate.(I could have sold the CETME before I left the gunshow as I was stopped by other people.)
The rifle did shoot straight as the front sight is perfectly centered, but I had to adjust the elevation, as it was about 10" low @ 25 yards starting out with the 200 peep, but then adjusted perfectly zeroed at 100 yds.
I believe the gun wasn't shooting correctly for the owner, and he didn't know how to adjust it and decided to sell it, as the front sight had never been moved, as I put penetrating oil on it and using a correct CETME sight wrench, had to break loose the CIA paint on the front post and the little "set screw" on the triple tree.
I refinished the wood with TRU-OIL, replaced the plastic junk stocks, put on a US made flash supressor and FAL US made magazine floor plates to bring in compliance, put in a new bolt, +4 rollers, (got rid of CIA ground bolt), and a new bolt carrier.
I grew up working with my DAD in his gunshop, rebarreling rifles, making gunstocks and bluing guns, so I have a love for the work of resurrecting firearms. DAD is gone and so is the shop, but I still have the memories and the experience gained.
The time and help all the members of this forum gave in this project is very greatly appreciated. Thanks brothers and sisters in the art and science of riflery!

That was a great build you did there OP :)
Now that I got mine working now, I'm also looking at another 308/7.62x51 rifle.
I'm either gonna go DSA or get a Savage Model 10 with a decent scope. But that won't happen until after tax season :(
Might sell my Mosin and a 30-06 bolt gun first to finance this ;)
FAL is on my short list as well.
I don't see the point in getting a PTR since I already have a CETME. YMMV

If you should deceide to go with the PTR pick up the GI version, it will shoot 7.62 NATO or .308 commercial, I own one and it hasn't let me down yet.
On the FAL go with the DSA, (Imbel) I own one and it has been a excellent Gun. Bottom line is they are both good choices so flip that coin.

Good luck in your search.
