Took the K98 out today and decided to sight it in. After some adjustments I got her dialed in. The target was 100m away and shot w/the military open sights. Not too bad, especially when using Czechoslovakian surplus ammo.

That is a real nice group from 100m with surplus ammo. Did you have to aim low? All my K98k rifles shoot high from POA. Is it a Russian capture rifle ? If so you got a nice looking one

Nice Treadhead, looks like a winner.

Turnbolt, I have 1 K98 that shots high and I have to aim low, but my other 2 shoot pretty good.

I thought about getting a "tall" front sight blade for a few more of mine from SAMCO. They sell them for the Swedish Mauser but they will work on German 98's. I have used them on a couple of my K98's. Never been lucky enough to get one (K98k) that shoots to POA @ 100yds. Most all mine shot 8"-!2" high with original German sight blades. The ones i put the "tall" blades on started shooting low @100 yds with the rear sight setting on the 100 meter mark. That was no big deal now I have the rear sight set at 300 meters to hit dead nuts @ 100 yds. That is OK for me because raising the rear sight to hit higher is fine its when its all the way down and still hitting high thats a problem :toothless:

I had to aim slightly low at 100m, but not much at all. The rifle isn't a RC, all the original markings are on the rifle w/no Russian markings.
