its on the template that comes on the tube... if you lost or damaged yours Terry at HBA will probably give you another one.

yea thats the thing,i dont have the tube and dont see any reason to pay that kind of money for 10" of dom tubing. all i need is the template, i have the mill, lathe, welder and skills to do the rest.

if you got all that then you dont really need the template either. :icon_biggrin:
you already have the location of the magwell and ejection ports..
the cocking tube slot is a dead give away.
this opens up the positioning of the 3 holes on the bottom of the tube for the screw heads in the lower...
which gives you the position for the notch on the bottom of the tube for the trigger pivot bar clearance and sear.
the site location is just a surface cut for the retaining spring and to make a flat surface....
the only semi tough thing to do then is get your "hook" in the right spot for the rear cap.
worst you can do there is make it from the wrong direction and it will still work just fine if you do that.
these are a great gun to shoot and very fun to build.
but if you already have the tube and still need the template im pretty sure Terry would still help you out.
if you wanna see a neat "extra" on these look at my build with the "fluted" receiver.
it really sets this thing off and looks like it was supposed to be there.

oh wow you do have some fancy tools... lol mine was just done by chucking it up on the hold down and then walking it down thru there.
i didnt do a build tutorial on this one cause there are plenty of them and Greg has much better english and sentece structure... but here are a couple pix and a video of the test fire..

edit note: i still posted the video wrong on on this board, if someone wants to fix, have at it. :-)
I`m still looking for mags for these
I find it hard to believe they only made one mag per sub so where are the rest of them?
had to be more spare parts SOMEWHERE but all that I ever saw on the market was the one mag that came with the kit...haven`t seen any spare mags, bolts, recoil springs, bolt handles, FCG pcs.......nothin

you can convert a pps 43 mag over with just a little work.
dont want to hijack his thread but if you start another one i'll run you thru it.
s
man feel free to hijack it, i need all the info i can get. i also heard about the pps43 mags as well as dont try to put them in the magwell on the 56 without modifing them first. if not supposed to be next to impossible to get out? lets hear about how to do the mods,i have lots of 43 mags and aparently like everyone else only 1 m56 mag.
oh yea sdk that fluting does look pretty good on yours. i wasn't sure whether to do it or not because i didnt want to take away the original look of it. however, i think they should have done that from the factory.

Zeek,
he started another thread on the mag conversion and i rambled it off. lol
on the fluting:
your right the original didnt have it and the tube was jsut a standard thickness is probably why.
but by going reduced diameter for the SA set up the tube is quite a bit thicker so the fluting serves two purposes..
one: it looks great and makes it look more like a german style gun.
two: it does take some weight back off of it (just a few ounces).
now you mentioned that you had some fancy machines so im sure that you could make yours even better looking than mine as mine was done on a manual machine.
after Jestism put the flutes in it and sent me the tube i took a sctoch brite pad on my air buzzer and knocked all the eges down on the flutes to make it look "worn" and match with my old look of the cold blue.
back to the mags, the 43 mags are just to narrow and they flop around with out the spacer built into them. thats the only real issue.
sold a dozen of them after lucking into some factory m56 mags.
if you have a big metal break you could make you up some cages pretty quick and easy for these and that would be better than the garage alterations i posted in the other thread. but those ways DO work.
