They are Romanian, as far as being any good I don't know because I have never handled one or shot one.

1975 GP is a Romanian rifle. It in itself was a fine gun AFAIK, I'm not an AK officianado like K or some of the other guys. I guess if your'e wondering about the quality of the re-builds I see out there, from people like CAI. I haven't actually been through one yet other than looking at the outside.

Yes Blade, you're right. I'm ready to buy one. I see some out there and try to decide if it's the one for me. I've also seen a Hungarian AMD that looks promising but didn't know the quality/accuracy of it. It has a unique look but I'm more for performance, reliability, and accuracy. I've seen a guy at the range w/ a Bulgarian arsenal that he was so upset and ready to use it for a tire iron cause it wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn and another guy with a WASR that was keeping the shots inside an SR-1 target at 100yds w/ ironsights and brown bear ammo. What to do, What to do...:wallbash:

I have one, it shoots as good as an AK can, not a tack driver by anymeans but it does what its supposed to do - hit a man size target and fire everytime. The finish on metal is a nice park and they come with black furniture (maybe wood on some?) I put some custom wood on mine with Russian inlays.

I've got two, one I built from a kit that I bought from Planning. Built it on a Nodak receiver. The kit was obviously a de-mil right from the arsenal, had never been fired as far as I could tell. It will do 6 inch groups at 100 yds, probably better with some optics on it. The other was built from parts gathered here and there, and also with a barrel that was in pristine condition on a Nodak receiver. It also will shoot 6 to 8 inch groups with just my abilities with iron sights. So I think the key is to find one that has been built with a good barrel. I have seen some of the CAI rifles and they seem to be reliable shooters. Maybe some others have some reviews of some of the commercially built guns.
Charlie, who built yours?

I just got one last week for $375 out the door. Brand new. I took it to the range and it had zero malfunctions, fit and finish were great, came with 5 near new mags. It is a Frankenstein build, but it was better than what I thought it would be. The US furniture was nice too. If you need pics let me know.

Mine was a Century build I got in Tacoma, WA for $459 at the beginning of the scare. I watched them go up to over $800 and thought of selling it, but i already added the custom stocks and liked it. Good shooter too btw.

Love to hear stories like that, WASRs get such a bad rap... The GP75s are supposedly very good, Century's subcontracted effort to build up all those Romy "G" parts-sets they imported.

Ok...it took me a while and it's not the best. Also, I know next to zero about AKs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyT6E4a3vg4

Thanks Great, a buddy of mine adjusted the sights for me on the second outing last Saturday. I guess the barrel needed a little break-in since it shot very good on a very cold (11 degrees) and windy day on my second outing with it.
