i really don't think that it would matter how they filmed or did the stunt.somebody is going to see that, and not read the fine print, and here we go. some things are just a bad idea from the start. :walkdoor:

Nonsense....pure and simple

My firearm safety training had me nauseous one second after the vid started

I may be an old stick in the mud, but this vid is neither funny nor entertaining and apparently certain folks not only should put their firearms away, they should put their cameras away as well

I don`t care that it wasn`t a real shot....pure nonsense

like has already been said, it isnt real.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6YVPVbpHXo

i'm sure that if someone actually tried that stunt and posted it on youtube that their local gendarmes would be all over them for public endangerment or some such thing the VERY SECOND that they saw it....
and truthfully it isnt a good idea to youtube stuff like this to begin with... disclaimer or not, some dumba$$ is going to try that and it will result in death or serious injury

Words can not express my opinion on this.If it had been me behind the rifle I would have hollered out "Say something so I can find you, wave your hand or something---okay, I think I see you, hold real still now.":lolgreen:

Yeah, this has been debunked, unfortunately it keeps going around and it will keep going around till some idiot actually tries it and gets himself dead.

The guy's made a name for himself on youtube doing lots of action scenes with airsoft guns and incredibly realistic muzzle flashes and simply superb effects all around. From what I understand he is a professional special effects artist.

No offense guys, but the probably thousands of complaints about this video rank up there with the whining about photos with the gun pointed at the camera. Sometimes you just need to let it go and let art be art.

while i agree art is art, and im old enough to appreciate it...
i dont think that the average teenged kid that gets an email about a "cool youtube video" is going to take the time to look at the discaimer.... more than likely he is going to look at the first video, then he and his buddies get the idea to try a stunt like that with "daddy's deer rifle".... i see crap like this all the time in south texas, rarely in youtube but im sure its there..... thankfully its usually air rifles that they use, but those can be deadly too.... if this guy is such a professional then he should have a disclaimer at the BEGINNING of the video explaining that it isnt real.... just for the sake of those too lazy or ignorant to read the fine print or click on the explanation video.

There is a giant disclaimer at the beginning of the video...

I guess I just like Darwin way too much.

oops.... didnt see the first about 10 sec of the video.... after rewatching it, and my computer buffering the video properly, i saw it. its a rlief to know that he actually does post a disclaimer at the beginning.
i get riled at that kind of stuff pretty easily.. i have 2 boys, 10 and 11, and while they are well behaved they are still quite impressionable.... thankfully i have taught mine right from wrong.... i still worry about young impressionable kids getting the wrong idea from this kind of stuff, but once again at least theres a disclaimer. last year a good friend of mine's nephew lost his arm from the elbow down after watching how to make a sparkler bomb on youtube.... kid tried to make one, and it blew up in his hand when he lit it....

If you check out some of his other stuff it's actually pretty impressive.

If anyone ACTUALLY believes that someone will watch that video and then go try it...... I mean COME ON! And its not like this video is going to convince someone anyways. If a kid is stupid enough to try to have someone shoot something off his head, he would have died whether he saw this video or not.

Its some REALLY nice video editing. Nothing more. I suppose Clint Eastwood and John Wayne were also as detrimental to the youth as this guy is huh? They have all kinds of people getting shot in their films, not to mention the other THOUSANDS of movies that depict someone getting shot or a car doing a stunt. Maybe we should bash the Dukes of Hazzard for jumping their Charger all the time. I'm sure kids just ran right out the door and killed themselves trying to jump the creek with the bridge out.

Lighten up guys.

Fake or not... In the name of having a little fun, I would like to pose a few questions...
1. What in the HELL did the guy with the watermelon on his head think that bicycle helmet was gonna do?
2. Why in the HELL was the moron with the rifle wearing a guilli suit? Dude... We can see you. You're not on a sniper mission in the forest...
3. If the whole thing was staged, why not go farther back?

Govern yourself or you will be governed. Responsibility is the word here. Crap like this sends ripples through the timid souls.

1. What in the HELL did the guy with the watermelon on his head think that bicycle helmet was gonna do? Extra laughs.
2. Why in the HELL was the moron with the rifle wearing a guilli suit? Dude... We can see you. You're not on a sniper mission in the forest... see above
3. If the whole thing was staged, why not go farther back? Still wanted to be visible when the shots were combined. If Freddie backed up any further, you wouldn't be able to tell it was him and everyone would just say it was a dummy (a fake  )

Only one word comes to mind when I saw these videos. MORONS!!!!!

The sad part is that although they think it is clever, all of us involved in shooting sports should endeavor to portray safety and responsibility with weapons. It is this kind of unprofessional tom foolery that gives gun owners and shooting enthusiasts a stigma of being stupid and irresponsible. It is no worse than some of what hollywood puts out, or the news media for that matter. (same thing really) And how many people would be stupid enough to try it, or to say hey lets do that for real?.... Just go back to the video and read through the posted comments,,,that's a pretty fair moron meter right there. I don't really care one way or another what they intended to do, it's the perception they leave of the rest of us that I have a problem with. There are a lot of cool and mind blowing firearms demonstrations that are done with the intent of showing true skill, ability or just really cool stuff, but they are done in a manner that shows responsibility and intelligence. This is just two guys confirming their immaturity and lack of common sense to the world.

But nobody is impressed by the 23 year old guy who has managed to trick half the interwebs into thinking he actually pulled off the stunt? The guy's got skill, and I tend to like his imaginative short films, not to mention how he breaks it down and shows you how it's done. I don't think that he should be chastized and ban from the web, even if it is for the sake of the children.

I had the same questions as 1 & 2. I laughed more at him wearing the ghillie suit than at the stunt. Now, I applaud them for making the stunt look real. My best friend is an aspiring film maker and I can appreciate it from that angle but, would I try it? No way on God's green earth! Like others have said alot of us in the shooting world that are responsible and safe do not need videos like this giving the opposition more "ammo". :sparta:

I did go watch his other stuff like OP suggested, and he is a talented film maker no doubt. No, he shouldn't be chastized or banned from the web, I'm just not big on anything that shows weapons being used irresponsibly or unsafely even if it is an illusion. Now, the vid that he did with the flowers, that was pretty interesting and even entertaining....obviously not meant to be realistic. I guess what I'm trying to say is that being creative and artistic is well and good, but the .50 cal stunt was to create a sense of realism. I guess too, I'm just a little touchy on the subject because of too many incidents in my life involving kids being killed by firearms because they thought something they saw was cool. Some needed better supervision, some needed better education, some better and more responsible parents, but bottom line they all needed better examples in some form or another.

Fair enough, but that's more on the shoulders of the parents than society at large. I'm just not a fan of the "ZOMG THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!11!" response to things like this, and the safety nazis can get a bit much on the interwebs. (I've posted photo (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=35901004&l=c96723d3f2&id=185008998)s on a 2A facebook group and had people freak out about fingers on triggers. In photos taken at the range... It gets old.)

Yeah I'm absolutely with you on that, there is definitely an extreme the other way that is just as bad or worse in my opinion.,,,,those guys paint just as bad a picture for us in many ways also. It's all about being responsible, tempered with some common sense. Hope I didn't click my jack boot heals together, sure didn't intend to, I'd like to think I'm not that guy yet....Like I said before, been way too close to the stuff all my life I guess and a firearms instructor for too long. I probably do get a little touchy.
The vids that somebody else posted here recently of the "Instructor" that was actually using a live "hostage" in front of his targets, was way worse than what these guys could ever come up with. This isn't even in the same category with that deal.

You don't remember the azz hat from my area that filmed himself being shot with his brand new body armor? Yup, a 9mm went through and penetrated about 2" into his left lung. DB had just graduated from the regional police academy and now is assured of NEVER being licensed as a Peace Officer in Texas.

My Dad spent time everyday inside the church....is only reason Im still alive today

This guy has some pretty mad editing skills... But I personally as a 50 cal owner have seen what a 50 bmg round can do.. I would hate to see someone try this for real, thinking the first video was real and someone get shot in the head. Honestly, people shouldnt post things like this on youtube or any other video upload site without a very up front disclaimer and warning that what the viewer is about to see is FAKE..

Just my $.02 :kookaid:
