I will only shoot handloads or US Commercial ammo in my GEW88, but I have a couple of 98's that should have a problem with surplus ammo. I know that a lot of surplus 8mm is corrosive primed, who's got the best price on non-corrosive 8mm?
Thanks!

You mean someone made non corrosive 8mm? I think all the surplus 8mm is corrosive.

The best I could find is http://www.samcoglobal.com/ammo.html. The FNM Portugal is Non Corrosive

Smokehouse69,

don't let corrosive primers scare ya off surplus ammo, it's real simple to clean out the corrosive residue with an ammonia/water solution.

http://www.empirearms.com/

check out this link, look on the left side for the "How to clean after using corrosive ammo" about half way down the page.

I've even used the "blue ammonia-based" glass cleaner with good results.

...just water to dissolve the salts that cause the rusting. H2O will do the job, but I do prefer to use windex with the ammonia in it. Just run a patch or 2 thru with it on. or hose down the bbl then patch it. then clean and lube normally.

Don;t be scared of corrosive ammo. I was once....then I got Mosins.

I've not cleaned for a week, but kept the rifle in a really dry (no moisture) loacataion, and no rust forms.

Corrosive ammo will work for 100yrs if sealed, in hot or cold, wet or dry.
