I had Chuck Cook of Scout Knives make this as a gift, I believe it is called the "Sere" model.
25 degree blade cut
Mustard Petina
It has a wonderful balance about it, Chuck has always impressed me with his skills. :icon_biggrin:

Yes it is actually a patina that is achieved by using a higher acid mustard to create a staining patina to the metal, the knife looked even better in person.

Take your high carbon (non stainless steel), that knife is o1 tool steel polished to 1500 grit. Then use the cheapest plain yellow mustard you can find (you might even find free packets at work:icon_biggrin:). Put drops on the blade and let it sit, wash it off after 45 minutes, then repeat. I found that after 3 layers the whole surface was oxcidesed (spelling is off), wet sand with 2000 grit sand paper, and repeat. The SERE knife has 6 layers or so on it. After the last layer let sit in the air for an hour or so and then oil.
