I have a 1942 dated Gustloff Werke "BCD" K98 and am looking for the proper historical bayonet to go with it. I am rather partial to the black Bakelite handle bayonets, but are they accurate for the 1942 time frame and Gustloff Werke manufacturer? Is there a certain marking on the bayonet I should be looking for? Thanks for the help.

Treadhead, the German Army issued bayonets like we issue bayonets. There is no thought to what is correct for what rifle. You just need a German K98 Bayonet. I would try 1944militaria.com while he still has some.
Ebay is another source. I got a matching numbers bayonet/shealth and original frog for $30 on Ebay. The guy didn't know what he had. It even has 85% of the original bluing on the blade.

Bayos and sheaths are dated, for the most part. And should have waffenampts on each, very small. I found several places selling nazi bayos and got and idea of what was what from them. I rarely have M1s luck, but got a good bayo and sheath last year on gunbroker.com for about $90.
