After months of trying to get my record strait in the NICS system and being put on indefinite holds I finally got it fixed. All of this crap for an arrest in 92 for a minor misdemeanor that the charges were dismissed on anyway. The reason I was put on a indefinite hold was that the records in the FBI system were never updated and the court system had lost the file saying even what the charge was for. So the court wouldn't update the system and the FBI couldn't get an answer. HOLY CRAP what a broken system. The bad part is the infraction was so small that most of the other agents just gave me a proceed not even knowing the disposition of the case, but once one put a hold on me it stays in their system until they figure it out and every time you go to purchase they see your on a hold and put you on another hold for the new purchase. They are supposed to purge their records every 24 hours, but not for those on a hold those stay until it goes one way or another. I have some friends that helped get this worked out, god help someone trying to get it done on their own.
