I hit the jackpot at Christmas this year and picked up $250.00 in gift cards from Academy. About a month ago I won another $100.00 gift card from Academy in a raffle. I have a hankering to buy a Saiga in .223, a buddy of mine has one and it is a hoot to shoot. It will eat the cheapest steel cased ammo where my AR's puke on anything but 5.56 NATO or my very carefully resized hand loads.
Can Academy order a Saiga for me? I don't feel like driving 45 minutes just to walk out of the store pizzed off.

Academy must be a TX thing so can't help you there, but does your AR (that won't shoot everything) happen to be a DPMS upper?

Yep Mike, it sure is. Both of my AR's have DPMS uppers.

Knew it! DPMS is notorious for short chambering rifles to fit some mythical cartridge. Their own website forum is full of complaints and accusations of using worn out reamers.
I went round and round with them in emails and phone calls and finally found someone there that admitted they had a problem and gave me a name and number to the person in charge of warranty repairs. Despite my best efforts I could never get a return call or email.
I finally bit the bullet and bought a 5.56 Nato reamer. Spun it in by hand and the problem disappeared forever.

Academy use to buy all there guns from "Sports South". they had a large catalog to look at and if it was in the catalog they would get on the computer and order it for you. i don't know if they still do it.
when i was a ffl dealer i was on the "Sports South" preferred dealers list and that is where i would order most of my stuff. it was quick and easy, and you could check to see it was in stock.

i did a search for ffl dealers in your area and ouch only one that came up was $75! My dads ffl usually charges him like 10 bucks for receivers, and 25 for complete weapons. luckily if he is out of town or unavailable the local screw (true) value does 25 dollar plus tax transfers.

Thanks HKILLER, looks like I'll have to find something else they sell to use the cards on. I did see where they were selling the SIG522 at a reasonable price, and I like those about as well as I like any of the .22LR assault rifles.

You ought to be able to come up with something cool at AS. They have some fairly good deals on ammo at times, maybe you need a case of .223.
Or buy yourself and your significant other new running shoes.
Or a kayak.
