one is round and one is square.

I believe the A1 sight post is round in its circumverance and the A2 is a square shaped post, i.e. the A1 post is like a broom handle cut off and flat on the top while the A2 is four sided and flat on the top. Both have different detents to correspond with their shape for height adjustment.

Along the lines of your first question, I wanted to get another front sight post and taper it to a point, kinda like the CETME. The A2 sight is so wide I don't see how you can hit a target after 100 yds.
