get digital cable and run the coax into the cable box, and then go from your cable box to the TV with HDMI cable

another option is S-video from the cable box to Svideo on the Tv and add RCA cables (red and white) from the cable box to the TV for sound

Does it have an RCA cable feed? if it does try to hook the cable to an in between device such as a DVR or something then hook the DVR to the RCA feeds "the color coded inputs", but you may lose Hi Def until you get that jack fixed.

Did the connector come off the coax cable or did the fitting break off the TV? If you need to replace the coax fitting on a cable I have the crimping tool, nice heavy one.

Sound's like Perro's method will work though, much like how you could route stuff through the VCR back when we had VCR's :D (I still do if you can believe it!)

if your not talking about it still being under warranty...a little judicious use of a 6 buck soldering iron from the ratshack should fix it. the center connection is the "core" or " +" and the outer section that's threaded is the "shield" or " - " connection.
a little wire and tape will fix it right up...might be fugly but hey it's behind the tv anyways...

a photo would help :)

there's enough geeks...er nerds...er hams around here to help ;)

Ron, having been passed up by the modern day electronic gadgetry bus about four or five years ago, I'm glad these other guys can help you out. And being married to a girl who can't function without the TV on,,,,,,,I instantly sensed the "O crap" in the first post, which has now been confirmed by the last post, and I wish you the best of luck and will pray to the gods of spousal forgiveness that she does not whip you too bad with the cable when she gets home.....:icon_biggrin:

well, i had to call her and tell her she was getting the wrong cable. we got a new cable box last month and there is not a HDMI plug on it. glad i went down and checked it. she was just leaving the store, so back in she went and got the s-vidio cable, but they were out of the RCA cable, so she is going to another store to find them.

You know, the only reason I even know what all these cables are is that I've been trying to figure out how to play movies on these huge monitors we have at work :D

My wife and I have been happily doing without satellite or cable TV since we moved in 2005, spending the money on a decent internet connection instead. She's now hooked on streaming TV and movies :D

YES!!
TRIED THIS FIRST:

PERRO : "another option is S-video from the cable box to Svideo on the Tv and add RCA cables (red and white) from the cable box to the TV for sound "

IT WORKED

WE ARE BACK UP AND RUNNING.

THANKS, EVERYONE FOR THE HELP.
