What is reputation:
Do you speak the truth or are you full of BS? Other users rate the quality of your posts.

How to give reputation:
In any thread look below someones avatar. You will se a white scales icon. If you click on that you can add to or take away from someones reputation.

To view your reputation:
If you click on User CP near the top of the page you can see your latest reputation recieved (but not who gave it to you)

First off, it's been found/realized on other forums members use the reputation feature to "hit" someone just because they upset someone. BS...truth....had nothing to do with it. For this sole reason I see the feature as highly insignificant.

Secondly, it should be required that anyone giving a positive or negative to require them to show their identity. Otherwise some will use the feature as a weapon against someone else whereas anyone that has the havors to give you a negative hit should also have some havos to sign it.

Third, when I click on my User CP it shows nothing. Nothing. Yet I have a reputation green mark. So, either my user CP is not functioning correctly or you don't necessarily need someone to give them to you.

I must of for got to turn on my sarcasm tags.

Some forums live and die based on reputation points. Here its not a big deal. On the old forum I wrote a detailed post about "Rep Points"...pretty much saying what you did, however they can be "fun".

Also if someone has soiled your reputation unfairly and supermod or admin can edit it out.

The user CP only shows the latest reputation recieved. It depends on how the forum was set up but it may only show the last 5 or 90 days. Default can be set to zero or +-500 points.

Check your User CP in a few minutes you should have new reputation.

/I usually give reputation for funny stuff.
//I agree that anonimity is "bad" but we don't take rep point too seriously here.
/// I think iTrader conveys the information I need.

I got busted for telling a guy to not shoot his rifle with no bolt gap...

Rep points are... ehhhh... not a whole lot IMO, because you don't have to qualified or justified to give them out.

If you offend someone who is totally in the wrong, they can still bust your balls in Rep points, even though you were totally right... maybe the negatives should go through moderation, and the +'s are ok.

I dunno, I just quit looking at em.

Slow down there Sunshine ...lemme help ya out.

FIRST OFF, yes if someone gives you rep, you can see who it was in your User CP.

SECOND OFF, You have rep and no one has given you any. Thats called TIME IN GRADE, a feature I turned on.

I'm sorry you feel this feature is highly insignificant, you don't have to use it. Matter of fact, I'll be happy to turn yours off for you if you would like. I hope I have cleared up how it works, so people better understand it, but you cannot blindly rate people without them knowing, nor can you give more then few out to multiple members every 24 hours.

If you would like me to turn yours off, please feel free to contact me, the administrator and owner of the board, so I can customize some settings for you.

And last, I hold the trump card. If some yo yo is handing out bad rep to be a dick, then I simply erase that and ban their ass, pimp style.
I guess I need to use the pimp stick more often, people seem to have forgotten who I am.

What is TIME IN GRADE? How long someones been here? I noticed a lot of peeps jumped up to 3 rep points recently. I also noticed a couple of peeps who had negative rep, for no apparent reason.

Time in Grade, sorry thats a military thing. How about senority?

And how do you know they have negative rep for no good reason? Maybe someone had a good reason for giving it to them.

This is what I see in my USER CP, how about ya'll.

Tanker, I can't see who left me rep points. I see the same thing as you but without who gave me the rep. Maybe it's a mod/admin thing?

2440 You are seeing the admin panel, M1. We don't see who does ours.

Ok, if ya'll can't see, we will institute a simple policy.

1. Any user can turn off Rep Power in their USER CP/User Options

2. If you receive something you disagree with, you PM me. I look at it and decide if it was worthy or not. If I believe it was given out without a supporting reason, I'll kill it and the naugty neg rep power giver will goto time out for a week or 2. If they continue, I'll ban them.

How does that sound? Anyone have issue with that?

Pimpin' ain't easy :) Its all good, I just wanted you and everyone else to understand that we do monitor that. We will NOT allow someone to trounce on someone else. If you deserve it, its all good. If you don't deserve it, I break out the pimp stick.

This forum, and cetmerifles, has always had a good group of guys for the past few years. We rarely have problems between members, and when we do we clear it up.

No fear fellas, we have A+ members here. Personal attacks will be dealt with :)

You are right that I don't know. Because in the past these folks seemed just as cordial and helpful as everyone else here, I reviewed their recent posts and looked at I-trader info. It all seemed OK with nothing out of line. There could be something I'm not privvy to though.

Not that Im a post whore or rep slut or anything, but my avatar area says I have rep power 13 but in my user CP it says I have 124 points. How many points equal a jump in powers. And when can I shoot lightning bolts from my fingers and move stuff around through the air?

Remember that I believe that users cannot see who leaves rep unless they place their id in the notation.

As for moving things with thoughts and lighting from finger tips, I believe only the pimp stick owner gets that right on this board. :)

I am guessing the dark greens are tens and the light greens are some other variation of the count, just not sure, guess I could see if maker of the software has an explination .

+1 for jfowl31's answer. If you need the ego stroke so bad you are worrying about rep you're spending tooooo much time on the 'puter when you should be out shootin' a weapon of some sort.

They are all the same color on my screen... your rep is 41 and you have 4 light green squares.

Mine shows 38 and I have 4 green squares.

I do think moderators get an extra square just for being a mod... I noticed throughout the post counts going up, the moderators always seemed to have 1 more square than everyone else at or around their post count and with the same rep power #.
