Hi, purchased a CETME a couple days ago. Put 35rounds through it and it ejected half a shell and left inside the chamber is a broken shell.
I have been told to get a broken shell extractor.
Now I am trying to put the rifle back together and it wont go in. I start with the bolt by sliding it in. IT wont budge. It hammer is down and will fire when trigger is pulled. Is there anything wrong with my bolt? Can you tell from the pictures?
Thanks

The pics aren't loading for me right now, but I'm at work so who knows... Are the rollers "locked" out, or does the bolt go in past the rollers before getting stuck? If the rollers are locked in the out position, there are several ways to resolve this. The one I use is to insert the bolt backward in the receiver and smack it with my hand. Other have different ways and they all work.

hey, i can make the rollers lock up so they dont go in. I can also make it come in and out so it at least slides in.
I just disassembled the bolt, took out the firing pin and spring. put everything back together. I just cant get the dang bolt in the original place.

You have the rollers locked out. Grab the boltcarrier with your right hand and turn the bolt toward you with your left hand about a third of a turn. It should click over. the pull the bolt to your left. Notice you can now push in the rollers. With the bolt still to the left turn it back to it's orginal position. This takes a bit of force to do. A flat balde screw driver inserted into the slot can help. You bolt should now slide right in the receiver.
It also looks like you are shooting .308 ammo. This gun is desgined for NATO 7.62. There are several threads here discussing this issue, one of which is that .308 brass is thinner/softer than the 7.62, resulting in case head separations.
Also while you have the gun apart be sure to check the bolt gap and golt length to make sure the gun is in spec. Again there are several threads here detailing how this is done.

Remove your trigger group, then put the bolt in, then put the trigger group on, with the hammer cocked.

The last picture looks like your rollers are locked out. Insert the whole assembly into the receiver backwards to lock those rollers down, and then remove it. Once the rollers are locked down, you should be good to go.

You might be able to use a peice of drill rod to force the case out of the chamber but with steel drill rod you risk marring the barrel. What you would do with drill rod is ease it down the barrel untill you hang up on the edge of the case mouth then just push it out with a mallet or wood block.
Some have said that with some luck you can use a larger bore brush and push it into the broken case and pull it out too. Not sure of either method, haven't broken off a case yet. I think if you could also find a 30-06 case extractor, they will pull the broken case, just the extractor is longer than 7.62x51.

If you look under the CETME FAQ you will find everything from trigger pack disassembly to free downloadable manuals. I suggest you start with the original Spanish Army Cetme manual that was translated to English. It alone will add you in assembly and disassembly.

.308 broken shell extractors are available most places, including Tapco.
If you are going to shoot commercial ammunition (and we recomend that you don't, just search for commercial ammo to see why), then you will need at least a couple broken shell extractors as you will become VERY proficient at using them.

i second what he said, your cetme will mash up commercial ammo like its silly putty(pretty BadA, huh?). first time i fired mine (and before i knew that)it jammed and bent an unfired round to a 45 degree angle in the middle.
also make sure your flutes are super clean before firing.
