600 yards and beyond is what I call comfort zone range, my comfort not theirs. Good for the marines, its great to see we still have riflemen in our military. I suspect that with the cut downs coming down the pike guys like him will be getting scarcer due to training time and ammo cutbacks.

Sucks to be that guy....

Great shooting by the marine, I've never been able to hit anything beyond 500 yds.

The Corps trains all of them to be a great shot. I have had the good fortune to have shot with them on the range before and have never been let down by there skill!:America:

In the Corps everyone is a basic rifleman from General all the way down everything else is just icing on the cake.

Yes, all are trained as riflemen first! But I was commenting on the tactics team I was on in the Navy, we were good shots ( not enough money to train hard) but those Marines, I could hold up as something to try and be as good as!!! They were just grunts! They would always stop and give us some pointers too:America: Made us a hole lot better than the NIS and FBI instructors ever did!:sniper:

10-4. The pointers you got were to help you excell. You always pass your knowledge on to the next man and he to the next.

I was taught how to shoot my a marine too, my grandfather, He was a marine sniper. He honorably discharged for a bad eye that he hurt as a kid. He left us a long time ago, but I'll never forget the life lessons he taught me. :America:

One of my Drill Instructors was a Marine Sniper. He was pretty low key (for a DI) until we hit second phase in bootcamp during grass week and at the range...then he started giving all us recruits pointers. Before that, I grew up hunting and thought I knew how to shoot, boy was I wrong. I never forgot those lessons...they served me well through my short career and beyond.
