can some one please tell me the difference between a g3 trunion and a cetme trunion? I know robertrtg says the are not the same, but I cant find any info to supports this. Also the bolt/cxr assembly from either will lock up in either and gap correctly.

Cetme bolts lock into Cetme trunions. G3 bolts lock into G3 trunions. The trunions are different and thus can't be switched.

Someone will chime in and tell you the same and that is they are NOT compatable! IIRC the bolt carrier length for a G3 is longer and won't lock or at least you will be banging your cocking tube stop to pieces. I've seen the exact meaurements before but that may be before the boards crashed.
Don't think it is OK and fire it! The HK locking piece is cut different, etc.. so on so on. They look the same but are NOT. If you had the two bolt carriers laid out you would see some differences.
Can I ask why you ask? What are you trying to do?

I have two g3 bolts and one cetme. I have a century receiver, a Hess receiver and a Portuguese receiver. the boil/cxr assy from either will fit into any receiver any lock up. I still need to fit the correct rollers, but they appear to all gap ok. I spoke to a tech at vector arms and he says he has used either and they appear the same. This is not to be implied that vector arms says the are the same, he offered some in-site only. Being alway on the safe side, I am trying to find the specifications for both to support what I have found. The cetme bolt/cxr can be modified to fit into a g3, it is half the cost of a g3 unit. I,am not suggesting that everyone do this, I would just like to find out the real differences between the two rifles.

I used a cetme trunnion for a G3 build... it gapped at .017 but after the first 2 mags, I lost all bolt gap. I ended up switching to a cetme bolt carrier and bolt. Then I had to trim down the front of the carrier and switch to a cetme charging handle. in the end it worked out fine.
My conclussion is that cetme trunnion with cetme bolt carrier, and g3 trunnion with g3 carrier.

Army Boy,
Thanks, those were the words I needed to hear to keep me out of trouble in the future. Those trunions are visually so close and seem to lock ok when mixed. Glad to have benefit of your experience.

Keep in mind the great resourse that RTG has on his page: http://www.robertrtg.com/cetmeinfo.html

I printed out myself and keep it near my work bench!

The angles internally to the G3 Trunnion/bolt/locking piece or different then the Cetme Trunnion/bolt/locking piece. Mixing those parts will destory your firearm.

Here are some comparison pics of bolts and locking pieces with measurements. I think I downloaded these from the old site. As stated by several others already bolts, bolt carriers, trunnions and locking pieces are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE between the HKG3/91 and the Cetme!
