Looks like a video game to me...
its fake. i read the comments under the video at the above link. something about a blue life bar on the plane.( if you look closely at the plane wen it flips) and a reference to battlefield 2. still pretty cool looking.

I agree....you can sorta see the player tag as the plane loops over.

Yeah, that is definitely game graphics from Battlefield 2. And if a pilot actually tried that, they wouldn't be a pilot when they got back.

That is gameplay from Battlefield 2. Looping in the F-35 isn't hard. :D

It's always kind of fun to see how game physics can break. In Oblivion there's a large council chamber you are not allowed in, but you can go up to the "observation deck" and jump into. It's about a 5 story drop, so it's not possible to survive.
That is unless you have perfect timing and hit the spacebar on a chair right before you hit the ground. If you do that the sitting in a chair animation takes over and you survive.
And then you find out there's only one person in the room, he has no programed dialogue aside from the generic rumors you hear from random schmucks in the marketplace, AND the only door out is locked at the max possible level.

now, not that im a pilot or anything, and although it looked like it started getting a little squirrely on him, it didnt really look like it should have been that hard to pull out of. it didnt really tank till well after he ejected.

Deth, the computer took over and the pilot had next to zero control of the plane. A sensor got fogged up with humidity.

Worse than that, if I recall the story correctly, this was a "known issue" with the humidity... "known" but not shared.
Like anything else, "fly by wire" is great... when it works.
Looks to me like they stayed with it until it was almost too late, they ejected at about the same time that the left wing tip started dragging the ground.
I'm no expert, but these "stealth" aircraft seem to be primadonnas-- got store them in a desert somewhere, keep them pretty clean ( a drop of bird poop can increase the radar signature), and often fly horrendous round-trip bombing missions with mid-air refueling, so they can get back to their bases. The numbers keep changing, so I quit trying to find one that I could believe in, but, you might be able to buy a whole aircraft carrier for what one plane costs. Of course, "Black Budget" rules apply... what we pay for THIS thing may actually be financing THAT thing. For instance, Congress got really, really mad when they found out that the NSA (the No Such Agency) built a new HQ for a billion or two... WITHOUT Congress's even needing to write a check for it. I guess they just had a 5h1tload of dimes rolling around in the petty-cash drawer.

Caveat surfer. It is hard to believe much of the content on the internet. (Why do you think people cam here for CETME advice? There are islands of rationality in the surreal dream-world of the internet, for those who seek.):icon_biggrin:

I used to work on those B-2's and that tail was a great plane. At least the pilots got out ok. :sparta:

Planes like the F-117 and the B-2 that were made with one mission in mind, Stealth. The F-117 was pretty much made to prove the technology could work and the B-2 was built with the intention of being put on nuclear alert and barely getting any time on the airframe. The plan was to fly just a few training missions to get the bugs worked out and put it back on alert.
As far as the pitot probe issue. That would've been a fault of both the aircrews and maintainers(of which I am one). The problem should've been properly documented so that all aircrews would know the fix or the engineers could've devised a permant solution. Like most aircraft accidents it was a chain of events not a single action. :sparta:
