These terrorists came from South America - Guyana and Trinidad. I haven't heard if they were here illegally or not. I just posted here yesterday in another thread about the possibility of terrorists crossing the open Southern border that our government refuses to control and how easy it would be for them.

Don't know if that's the case here, but it does illustrate one of the dangers uncontrolled immigration and open borders to our nation. How is Homeland security ever possible with open borders?

Glad they busted them before it was too late

The one person currently in US custody has been a citizen since the 1960s. Two others are in custody in Trinidad. One other is still at large.

I wonder how much of this is the real threat..

I read that they never got passed the planning point, which leads me to several options..

* The threat is real, and we got lucky this time.

* An overzealous HomeLand Security agent got another poor schmuck to say the wrong thing at the right time, and now he is going to enjoy a glowing job review this year, while the schmuck gets a one-way ticket to Guantanamo. :bomb:

*Don't these happen like clockwork, on the third Saturday of every month? :bull:

Doesn't matter to me what stage in their planning they were at when they were busted. Fact is law enforcement was on their toes and did a great job here in foiling their plot. Too many folks involved here for me to believe this was just some guy talking out his a$$. I think the threat was real and I applaud those that protected us in doing so.

My main concern is going to be that group in the future that stays close knit and stays quite (they will learn from mistakes in time). It's just a matter of time.... Course when the next plot actually happens, then some folks will be saying we should have done more and taken these threats more seriously. :wallbash:
