Sorry, you'll understand why after reading this.
I've got a 4yo who lives with me and a 15 & 11 yo who lives with their mom. Yesterday we had a trip to the range planned and no one to keep the 4 yo. We went anyway and it wasn't too crowded. Fired a couple of boxes through the CETME, about 200rds through the AR and another 150 out of the SIG226. I've cancelled before because of the little one. This time he went. Nice covered range, fenced across the front of a dozen tables with one walkway out. We took two tables. The third person not shooting held the little one with his big muffs on his head. Worked out very well. He understood what he wasn't suppose to do.
EXCELLENT day at the range. Who the hell cares were the rounds went! BTW the CETME and AR dueled it out over several pieces of box at 100yds. No targets, I forgot to load them. Can't say who won because the AR kicked them around some and the CETME left huge dust clouds went the rounds hit.
A big plus was the little one picked up brass during cease fire and I ended up with 350 shiny .40 cases, 100 9mm, and 200 or so .22 cases! I'll next teach him what to leave behind. The wife don't like .22 cases in his sand box.

gladta hear the young'un is learning the range rules by observation. I've been teaching my 4yr old daughter also. Now she likes to come out and watch, but tires easily of just wtching (luckily the regular range is a buddy's 17acres, with his kids and my daughter playing....but they sometomes wanna come out and see what the dads are up to.

I was at a Gander Mtn the other day with her, picking up a boresnake, and she saw this tiny little featherweight .22 wit a pink stock...she held it and fondled it...I know what her 5th B-day present is! It is just the rite size for a starter, lil bolt action .22...I'll even let her decorate it. was abt the price of a Mosin...nice.

Anyhow, it's cool when the little ones get into the swing of things.
