Great idea - I'm a lefty as well. You've got me thinking about another build...

I don't see why it wouldn't work. As an added bonus, the handle will lock back in the downward position.

Good idea!

If it works, I'd consider doing it to mine (already have Southpaw selector, sling and pistol grip).

OK, another southpaw here....where di you get the lefty selector?

I ran my US grip on the slack belt grinder to make it non-biased, but not really a lefty grip.

Don't know if you have a tig or not, but with a little work you can cut another notch on the opposite side, with a dremmel or a die grinder, then relocate your pin access holes and fill in the old notch and pin holes with a tig. Dress everything up a bit and good to go. Helped a south paw do this once, and it worked really well. Thinking about doing it on a future build just for grins.

Yep, access to TIG and MIG, just not sure I'd wanna do that to my finished one...since then I need to blast and park. If I were to do the top rail thing too though...it boecomes worth it.

Ambi selector: http://www.robertrtg.com/flemingambiselector.html

I got a left-handed walnut grip made by Jdowney a few years ago.

Yeah, it would get pretty extensive to try and mod a cocking tube that was already welded on, then you would have to cut both sides of the tube for the support handle travel groove. Be simpler to just cut out the tube and start all over at that point,,,,, still a lot of work.
