I got one of these last August. It is the most accurate .308 weapon I own. I did change out the bolt with a TRW one because I wanted to, but did not need to. Mine came with a functional FH, but I changed it out for a Smith Enterprises brake, which really brought out the accuracy. I usually keep a low profile about it since I'm tired of hearing them bashed. They are not deserving of it.

Hoot, I split and moved your thread out of the For Sale section since it didn't conform to the For Sale section rules (http://www.militaryfirearm.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=99).

I really like the Poly M14's, especially after changing the bolt. Nothing wrong with them at all!

i heard stories of them either being reverse engineered by US M14's captured in vietnam or manufactured by machinery purchased from taiwan, and therefore having a receiver that was more in spec than a few more name brand M14 domestic clone manufactors.

i heard that there was some kind of mount that took 3 points on the receivers and the springfields and armscorps had problem fitting them while most poly's had them screwed on w/o a problem.

again, i don't quite know the M1a's well enought to really be able to say, but poly's are supposed to be good, aside the soft bolt... but norinco's were bad since they were rushed in before the ban(chinese importation one).

On the things, the chinese reverse engneered them from our weapons, to supply their friends in countries fighting forces supplied by the US, on the M14 the article I read said the Phillipines. The thought was that with the same weapon, the solder could grab ammo and mags from his enemy without the need for supply lines thru china or the USSR.

Norinco also makes a M-16 clone designed for the same purpose. If you want to destablize friends of the US, that have M-16 weapons how better to supply the gorillia forces with the same rifles, thus again they can steal and pilifer and even take ammo from the dead enemy.

P.S. I read when the chinese ban on imported assault rifles hit, they were about to start importing them in numbers too, I guess there are a couple in country that I have read rumors of, imagine a chinese ar-15.

Awhile ago I read an article talking about developing an M4 variant fur US special forces to use that was chambered in 7.62x39 and used AK mags. The thought was that they could use captured ammo. Did this ever go into production?

I always like to show off my Poly-Tech from Planning.About 500 rounds through her and no change in head space at all. The IDE imports that Planning has do not have soft bolt issues.
A very accurate rifle.
I added
USGI flashhider and lug
USGI trigger group
USGI Stock (from Freds)
Sadlak matchgrade spring guide
Front and rear national match sights.
All Wolff springs
Before and after.
By the way Nalioth is selling one of these here, somebody should jump on it.Unless Planning sells some more, you will not find these NIB again!

over the M-14s...when I first started looking into .308 MBRs, the HK g-3, and M-14 were my goals. My money said CETME or FAL tho. Funny, the M-14s dinn't get any cheaper...in facto, none of them did.

A opy M-14 is definitely better than NOT having an M-14! My buddy has two mid-90s era in-ban M-14s, springfield receiver and Winchester bbl. I don't think they make them like that anymore...he paid abt 1/2 the going rate, the lucky bastige...

Steelcore, When I got into .308 rifles, I thought I never could afford to get a M1A, so I picked up first a C1A1 century rifle, then a CETME Black Widow, then another CETME(choppo though), then a Saiga in .308, then a C91 rifle, finally I got the one a M1A that I could afford from my local shop, used. If I had just waited though the M1A could have come much quicker.

I use this quote, from Ferris Buller's off to discribe why you need a M1A of some sort.

About the 1961 Ferrari 250GT, California, though it applies here too

"It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

The Springfield Armory rifles are made with a cast receiver that are often out of spec externally, and now, non chrome line barrels, and few if any U.S. parts.
The Chinese rifles are milled receivers, with chrome lined barrels.

The closest you can come to a true M14 is to find a USGI parts kit and build it on forged receiver, like the one Tanker has.
