Ok my local shop has a star 9mm with holster and extra mag, the pistol does show holster wear but inside the thing looks good. He wants 160 plus tax for it, I am wondering what they go for, and thus I need one of these.

9mm Largo or Luger? I bought my Star Super 9 Largo for $200 after shipping and all. It was in great shape.

9mm para, not largo marked p08, thus cheap ammo for sure.

Sounds like a decent price to me.

I'd buy it. I wanted a Star in 9 luger as well but never got around to buying one. The guy I bought my Star from got one in luger every once in a while so I assume they're a little less common. Like I said though, for $160 I don't think you can go wrong.

I didn't think it was too bad with a military holster and extra mag, just didnt want to commit while there and he was priceing it. He knew what I wanted to see in his case when I asked, he pulled a pa63 in 380 and a Soviet Mak in 9mm mak, and then he showed me this, I might have to go back as it was closing time when I saw it.

I bought one about 3 years ago for $167 and sold it for $200 last fall.

I also read that most of these pistols show a great deal of holster wear as this one does, any comments?

Well did some research on line, found a interesting pic, and went to the store with a list of proof marks to denote dates. The pistol I have is marked made in 1944 and has additional markings on every part that the standard star doesnt have. I think I might have my hands on a German Issued Star, but will start a new post if its true. The holster the thing came with matches pictures that say german issue. The story the owner of the shop make me think so too, a little old lady brought it in, with green ammo. I am thinking its a war bring back with no import markings on it either.

Nice catch. Do you have any pictures?

No pictures, it is a nazi contract pistol, but the last one, fifth variant, the spanish tried to deliver the pistols, but they werent picked up by the germans after the last deilvery on June 6 1944. Thus star took them back and stored them until picked up after the war. I still think it was some sort of bring back as there is not a import mark on the thing I can see, got matching german geco holster, even the number on the mag matches too.

I still am very happy with what I got, especally since these supposdly are bring far more for the vintage. I will get some pic taken shortly, I been seaching since I got it two hours ago and got anwsers.

I once saw somewhere a drop in 9 para barrel for the Largo Pistols....not sure if it was after market, but it was over a year ago before I bought my Largo from sarco. That would be great to have both in the same pistol. I think all guns from that time frame will show a little wear.

Go for it OKie.

Ok here's the promiced photo, I ran out of battery after takeing it. The parts are all numbered and correct, and even the magazine matches with number too. All in all I think its a nice pistol, even with all of the holster wear. It was interesting how the pistols were ordered by germany during the war, but delivered afterwards.

Maybe an EX LEO weapon?Yepper, found the markings for the West German Police on it, actually finding them is easy, searching the net to decode them is the hard part of that. Understanding that there are so many variants of these things that were ordered by the Germans during the way, a army acceptance stamp is not absloute, as they they were expmpt from getting german proofs. Then there is a crop of faked ones from Bulgeria, that some one put german acceptnance stamps on. Then there was my lot, that was made and paid for by the Germans during the war, but when STAR tried to deliver them, the Wehrmacht didn't show up and get them, thus the Germans bought them after the war, from star again. I am guessing its now either a pre 68 import, or some one still brought it back after service in Europe.

That's a good looking gun there. Despite holster wear, I think you still came out on top.

Ya, with the holster and extra mag, I think I did ok, just interesting history on the thing too. :) I imagine a extra mag for these bring a pretty penny, plus the military style holster was a big plus.
