I have a friend who is going to buy a Century FAL.
It has a butthole stock on it. He wants to get a surplus lower and swap lowers. I informed him of parts count issues with that, and I was also curious about the FCG. If he took a straight surplus lower and swapped it on a Century FAL, does that make it a MG?
We really don't want to break any federal laws, so please inform away. My google searches have not been helpful
you con switch lowers all you want, the upper is the registerd part. be sure to bring it up to the 922r code.

Get a stripped lower and swap the parts. Make sure the lower is not US as some are. If it is US get a US part to make up the 7 you need.

Your Century upper receiver will have a semi auto ejector block installed in it, that will not allow use of the FA disconnector of the FAL surplus lowers. You will be able to take all the SA parts out of your current lower and install them in the surplus lower. The only thing you will have to watch is parts counts.

without some machining and fitting parts, and probably changing some out, it will never be a machine gun. and last i checked, its pretty hard to "accidentially" do an hour worth of mill work, so no worries on that part.

You can even buy an American made lower if you want from DSA, also you can add 3 more US parts by installing a Falcon Arms trigger group or others like Century which is probably on the BH stock lower.

Yes it does, but as others have mentioned, the upper receiver needs to machined to allow the FA parts in the lower to work.
UNlike AR15/M16 series, the FAL's upper receiver is the registerd part.

Well cool.
My buddy is getting a Century FAL with an Imbel receiver and a complete surplus lower for a crazy low price. I am jealous.
