I'm messing with modifying my FCG so that it is SA only and have a couple or so questions.

First - What is the prevailing wisdom on welding up the FA (R) flat on the selector so that even in the R position your weapon is on safe? Actually I should have ask first about keeping or doing away with the R position.

Second - What does the modified hammer pawl do? I only ask this because I have assembled the FCG w/o this piece, added a spacer and it seems to function fine.

:thanks:

While not directly answering your question it may be in your best interest to investigate what the BATF would say about having having non-SA parts (even modified) in your rifle. My understanding is that having just one part will constitue it being viewed as a machine gun.

It might not matter anyway...if we get Mrs Clinton, or her lapdog McCain in the Whitehouse, you might need to worry more about function, than legality.

But there are established builders who can give you the exact modifications list...I think I saw it on Perros board.

Not sure if it is mandatory, most companies and individuals place a small weld to keep the selector from rotating to the FA position. If I remember right a properly converted semi pack that has a selector in the FA position will still be semi. Its more of a PC mod to keep the alphabet boys and range Nazis off your back.

Bill,

Thanks for the input on the safety. That's kinda' what I thought however, two heads are always better than one. As for the pawl, I still can't figure out what value it has in a SA FCG other than a spacer so I'm going to put some nice spacers in and throw it to the ???? pile.
