Well boys and girls here are some of the photos of this years turkey season. Sorry I have not been on more I have to go to my dads house to use the computer I can't afford to get one at the house yet.

These are just a few of the birds all together 9 birds went down opening weekend. The weather would not make its mind up it was shity then nice shitty then nice. But all together the thing that counts most is we all had a fun safe time. If you guys want to here the stories of my birds let me know if you want to image the hunt through the eyes of this hunter.

Nice tom you got this spring. The weather was off and on here too this spring.I ended up with a 19 lb.tom with a 8 1/2 inch beard myself.I had a lot of big jakes 10 yards in front of me for the second tag but I don't take them unless it's the last weekend of the season and I havn't taken a nicer tom.
Mine usually run 20 to 23 lbs and a 9 inch beard or bigger but as you said, the weather was off and on.I had people hunting around my fence line and that didn't help. The oddest hunt I ever had was about 5 years back when I slipped up on a nice tom and his hens. He had about a 9 inch beard so I figured it was worth the time to sneak into shotgun range. I fired and he hit the ground. I rolled him over and to my surprise saw a 4 inch beard.I then said"what the *&#&!" and wondered how I could have screwed up that bad.
I examined him a little closer and found the 9 inch beard plus 3 smaller 3 to 4 inch beards.I'd heard of multi-bearded turkeys but that was the first and only one I've seen.I mounted the fan tail and beards on a oak board but I guess I should have had the tom mounted.Anymore, I enjoy hunting and watching them as much as shooting them. I have at least one hen that is nesting on my place this spring. Hopefully I'll have some chicks running around soon.
The chicks look like giant quail at a distance when they are running around.
There was a sighting of a tom running near my hunting place with a beard so big it was rubbing the ground this spring but he was running elsewhere when I was there. That's kinda like the old saying"fisherman's luck". That's what makes the hunting fun and there's always next season.

Here's some turkey pics from the past few years. In the past I've tried to film the turkey a few weeks before season since a lot of people like to see them alive and I enjoy filming them as much as hunting them.

My last two days hunting, one killed this afternoon, the other yesterday.
To bad it could not have been a few days before Christmas.
The first was around 125 yd away. the other was around 75.
I used a 6.5 Swedish Mauser sporter with my own handloads.
I have found it to be a very flat shooter that is quiet to boot
(compared to the 30 06).

Yes you can use rifles including blackpowder weapons in the fall. I have shot most of my turkeys with rifles over the years.
