Hello all. I'm a newbie to US black powder culture but am a veteran with regard to muzzle loading arms. I have lots of questions and am not sure where to start with US black powder customs.

As a kid, I learned about muzzle loading from my grandfather (modern bolt style muzzle loaders). I used to collect catalogs from an old retail chain long gone, the Akron. The Akron carried different types of replica 19th century muzzle loaders with wood stocks and cheap. As a youth I would think to myself when I get older I'm going to buy one of those muzzle loaders for my grandfather. My grandfather passed away before I could give him one as a gift. The Akron is now long gone.

Where can I go to buy a percussion cap, muzzle loader with the hammer and full length stock? I hope to find them soon before they, too, disappear if they have not already disappeared.

Welcome to the forum!!

Cabela's and Dixie Gun Works are two that come to mind. Both have a wide selection to choose from.

I've been checking the BP scene closer lately just to have one. Dang have the gone up in price since I was messing with them...........years ago. The modern synthetics with fail-proof ignition are actually cheaper than the repros. I want another BP 1858 Rem but for that price I'll get a used Glock or Baby Eagle.
