O.K. first Dad wants a new 45, then an AR, now he wants an M-1 rifle! The used M-1 that I went to check out today sold already so now I'll have to find another. Any idea's on were to find a shooter grade M-1?

And you aint going to like how much CMP guns are marked up by gun show dealers for sure. :)

Walk-ins at gun shows are your best (and almost only) bet at finding an M1 at a "bargain" price. Pawn shops or gun stores which don't specialize in mil-surp weapons are your next best bet. Auctions rank third because you might be able to get an M1 for slightly under market price. Gun show dealers jack their prices up to a ridiculous level.

Check every gunshop, pawn shop, yardsale and flea market within driving distance. When stopping at a yardsale always ask if they have any firearms for sale, sometimes they do and have no idea what it is worth. I picked up a nice Arisaka for $25.00 at a yardsale a few years ago. I would also check classified ads in the newspaper, online and in the bargain hunter type papers. If not in a hurry watch online auctions like a hawk. When going to gun shows make sure you show up extremely early.

The most inexpensive is to wait until October, CMP is supposed to have some in stock then.
