I went to my local place were folks shoot and a guy shows up with these stands and lets me use one of them.
I liked the simplicity of design and the fact they could be made to come apart and were very easy to move and store.

Of course we all adjust and do what we want with the design, next build I am going with 2x2's that are routed on the corners, it creates more stapling media.

Nice, I may build one like that. I could leave it on the ground when not in use.
My portable PVC stand is kind of reversed. I have two legs of PVC then a "T" on each side for the lower cross brace then another straight length on each side, then elbows then the top cross brace. I have 2 stakes of 1/2" aluminum that are pointed to drive in the ground. Slip the two legs over and the wind doesn't bother it! I have a bunch of plastic shipping sheets and of course cardboard that I cut to fit and zip tie to the PVC as a backer for the actual target sheets. I can get the plastic zippped tighter if it is windy. A tube of pushpins is always in my range bag.

I used the pvc type for a while, but they kept getting broken. As a gift Da Ol Lady gave me two of these http://www.tuffsteel.com/ My only complaint is I have just two.

Nice. I'll also recommend realty sign frames, and the other sign frames you see on advertisements for political candidates. I have a deputy sheriff buddy who had to collect the political signs from around town after elections, and he gave them to a few of us for this purpose. They work quite well, if your ground isn't too hard/dry
