Found this FR-8 at the gun show two weeks ago, thought I would post some pics, its had some bubbaing to the stock, but other wise the metal and action seem to be in really good shape, I need to find a new safety and trigger as the previous owner put a Timmey trigger and a sporting safety. Plus Need to look for a unaltered stock too.

If I don't change the parts out though it would make a nice open sighted hunting rifle.

Anybody know what the going rate for FR-8s is these days? 200-300?

I might pick me up one.

How are they on shooting commercial ammo?

How are they on shooting commercial ammo? Fine indeed. No flutes in the FR7 or FR8 (and no high speed extraction process).

I picked one up for $250...

Never had any problems shooting commercial ammo..

Some are blued and some are parkerized. Mine is blued and I like it a lot better than the parked ones I see...

You can pretty much forget any chance of that at all . I know because I tried for many years. You do have a chance of finding a M/1943 Spanish Mauser stock which is what they cut down to make the FR-8 stocks. You will have to cut it down yourself so some woodworking skills are needed but not so much it would be for experts only. That's what I did. Good thing you dont need a handguard because you can forget finding that completely.

Nice score Okie. Every once in a while I see and FR-8 stock on GB, but it's pricey. If it were me, I'd just enjoy it as it is. Looks great in the pic. You will probably be surprised as to how good of a shooter it is. I really like mine.

Mine's parkerized and looks new. Ya' might check with Numrich (gun parts corp). They have had some FR-8 parts lately.

Any FR-8 for under $300 is good. The price is really going up on them. I sold mine to another member a couple years back. I loved it but went a different direction in my collecting and shooting. One thing I will add is I had the most enjoyment shooting reduced loads for plinking in mine. I had some loads that were as quiet as a 22 magnum.

Yes. Good point...

That lil' 7.62x51 carbine has a kick.

I decided to wimp out a while back and use a good quality shoulder pad for shooting, so I don't notice the mule kicking me in the arm so much anymore.

Cool FR8...nice find. I have always coveted one. I passed up one at a show that looked unissued for $350 asking. I would guess that $ 300-$325 would have bought it and it included a brand new CETME bayonet...another regretted decision.
