I heard somewhere that when century choped their barrels, leaving no threads they then concidered it a 922r complyant part(maby it was during the flash hider ban). Is that true? I was hoping to add a US flash hider to gain another complyance part. Just trying to figure the monkeys out

They chopped "some" barrels, if they had difficulty pulling the spanish flash hider, i expect.

Some barrels, they left w/o ANY muzzle device and some they installed a US made flash hider.

Either way, with the other US parts they used on those, it leads to a compliant rifle.

here is the thing,

by chopping the barrel, they removed the muzzle device, thereby removing one of the potentially IMPORTED compliance parts from the equasion.
Rember, the law states that your gun may have NO MORE THAN 10 IMPORTED PARTS ON THE COMPLIANCE LIST.

Removing the flash hider and the threads removed the muzzle device as a potential compliance part, meaning the CETME or G3 would only have a possible maximum of 16 compliance parts instead of 17.

It did NOT make the barrel a US made compliance part, and it should not be considered as one.

If a muzzle break or flash hider is added back onto the rifle it must also be considered a compliance part and included in the list of either imported or US made parts.

that`s what I am getting at, by adding a US flast hider I`m not gaining anymore 922r compliance parts than I had before because I added another part to the rifle. Is there anyway to get my wood on this rifle if I hate thoes US mags? Anyone seen US G3 floorplates lately? Anyone want to give up one?

They chopped the barrels to comply with the former assault weapons ban, where you could only have 2 "evil" features.

Greg, this is the problem with Cetme's, finding compliance parts. Magazines or switching to a G3 FCG is about your only options.

Not a reply to your question, but they also just chopped just the threads on some barrels. Leaving the shoulder where they cut 9/16 threads and put their own MB on them. I think they probably done this on the barrels that had bad damage to the original threads.
Plastic mags are a option on compliance parts also.

Greg, what compliance part are you referring to by "backplate"?

Although it is a somewhat expensive option I would recommend switching to a HKG3/91 FCG and using US made hammer, trigger and sear made by PTR. They do not currently have them listed on their site but if you call you can probably order the parts. If you went with this option then you would still be able to use inexpensive mags.
