Welcome aboard Dale. I used to grouse hunt up near Hill City in the Moose Willow WMA just south of you.

Thanks for the welcome. I live just off 62 (Soring Road) near the south end of Bass Lake. Grouse hunting is picking up, a lot of leaves gone. Seeing more deer than grouse on the roads though.

I remember driving 14 miles down a road north of Cook, MN, going to a lodge on Elbow Lake and giving up counting deer after 50. Boy, you sure don't see that many north of Staples, where I hunt. Luckily, you only need to see one on opening morning. I'm pretty much a meat hunter, not a trophy hunter. That's how I was brought up. If a deer comes by you shoot it. Never know when it'll be the only one you'll see. I do buy a bonus permit just in case though I've never been fortunate to fill one. Lately, it's been so warm, I rush the one I got home and butcher it.

We hunt near Baudette. Last few years it's been intensive harvest. This year it looks like it's back to 1 buck and a doe. Good thing I've still got some burger left! I'm in Blaine not to far from Bills new shop

I am from Kenyon. South of Minneapolis and a little east of Faribault. We do need to get more people from the southern part of the state on here.
