hi guys,,, i need to adjust the rear sight on my rifle,,,,any of you guys know the secret of unlocking the pins to get the sight barrel to run up and down??? i have made the piece that pushes the pins in and a driver for the inner nut but i can't get it to move(they sure are proud of the factory tool),,,,i don't think the key is unlocking the pins,,,, any thing i need to know or i need to do to get the sight to adjust???
i don't want to put a scope on this rifle,, i already have one with a scope on it..... i wouldn't mess with it but it's shooting about 3" low at 100yrds.
any suggestions? thanks

Once the pins are compressed into the internal hub, the drum will rotate around the hub assembly to adjust the elevation.

I used a small pair of needlenose pliers.

+1
You have to press and hold both pins in, then turn the drum.

I just use my HK tool, and it works like a charm...

do you rent the HK tool out rusty?
or would you loan it to me?
probably only going to need one adjustment,,, need about 3" and according to HKpro. i'm going to get just over an inch from each notch
don't need to worry about it for awhile,, the rifle is in parts for finishing and i'm getting ready to send the fire control group to bill springfield.... so it's gona be a few weeks before i really need to worry about it

+1 for very fine needle nose pliers. I use a set from my "electronics" tool roll.
I found that they can be a bit akward to get the pins pinched, but that once they are pinched in the outer drum (with the sight hole) turns freely.

Those tools are becomming available again, just expensive, $75-$80 each.
HKSpecialist lists them for $69

thanks guys,, for all the help and insight,, i have a pair of those skinny pliers so i tried them last night at work and they worked just fine,,, it's not the right way to do it but it worked,,,, you are right rusty they are a bit on the expensive side,,,
i guess if you were using them all the time or were an armorer it wouldn't be so bad but for just one adjustment or two
anyway i got it now,, thanks again
