hi fellas, ive got a quick question about a para i recently bought. Its having extraction problems. So bad that i actually have to kick the charging handle to pull out a spent round. Ive tried 6 different types of ammo many different mags and different gas settings and dry to lots of oil. SOOO i guess im going to send it back to dsa.
My question to everyone is weather the para works as well as the full size fal that i like so much. i have a century that i had to do quite a bit of work to but now it works like a top and ive built one one a dsa receiver that id go to battle with any day. But do the differences like shortened gas system and different recoil system change it alot. I appreciate amy input very much......

Are you sure the gas knob isn't on grenade?

M1 helped me build my para and I have had no problems like that. I rarely have a misfeed or anything

If your having that hard of time with extraction, it sounds like you got some metal to metal binding, look in your chamber with a flashlight and go from there...look for anything shiny or unusual...it sounds to me like you have something hanging up, try cycling with dummies or caps, take expanded cartridges out of the equation, if cycles a cartridge unfired without an issue then your problem is when the case has expanded.
I know nothing about the Para other than they changed the return system, that should not be an issue with extraction, especially if you have to use force to remove the cartridge...sounds more like a brass bur or piece is in your chamber.

Extractor cut is not right? Being new I've read a lot and found this to be an issue on a few Century guns.

Ok, lets start at the beginning then. It fired correctly and then just stopped? You didn't change ammo, clean it, adjust it, etc in that time frame? Have you checked the gas regulator knob? As Buddymack mentioned check the chamber. Never seen a FAL just stop working that didn't break something, was disassembled or adjusted.

you could have a carbon build up in the gas port, remove the front sight, gas piston, the gas port is under it, take a drill bit by hand and poke it down through, factory gas port size is around .090, make sure its clean, some of these guns are built off of some pretty worn kits, not uncommon to open the gas port, if your still having problems after checking everything else, drill the port to .114, you can go as high as .120, but like posted earlier make sure there's nothing hanging in the chamber, also if you can, check your headspace,

sometimes the pin that holds the gas tube is not installed on assembly or comes out. this allows the gas tube to roll and close up. stick a nail down in the gas port hole to check for line up and that there is an opening. if that is all ok then do what ken said.

Its a new rifle and since I threw down 1500 I kinda figure I shouldnt have to work on it atoll. Has had this problem since purchase. I tried about 75 rounds of different ammo plus different mags and the best it would do was with the gas turned all the way down to 1. still problems tho.

Spoke to dsa today and they think the chamber could be tight and to send it back. told me to include shipping receipt so they could pay me back for it... HOW COOL IS THAT!!! Ive never been offered that by any company THANK YOU DSA

Got my rifle back today, they said they recut and polished the chamber. I guess that means I have to go shoot it tomorrow shucks. Ya right can't wait... I'll post how it does.....

Works like a charm just like a fal should. Those paras sure do hit a bit harder than my full size fals do. Nice and accurate to when I tried I was able to string lines together at 50 yds. iron sights and no problem hitting plates at 150 yds. very pleased now.

I bought a DSA para a few years back for my hog rifle. Had the same issues. They fixed it up too, but it kinda left a bad taste in mouth. Still love the rifle. Musta been a Friday 4 o'clock special :icon_biggrin:
