and we welcome comments on this thread even though it is the for sale section, and that is not allowed typically. If its ok with the management we are cool with it on this thread?

We like doing crazy stuff now and then and would love to hear what you have to say about the Weed Whacker (good OR bad) ;)

no feedback? not even bad? We are totally open to criticism on this, and K98K792 has given you permission to speak your mind on this thread, so lay it on us!! what do you really think?? you arent going to hurt our feelings :)

i would have at least expected something like "not to my tastes", or "you ruined a perfectly good shotgun" lol?

If the zombie thing isnt cool to you, what would you like to see in its place?

I am interested in that handled forend; I assume its for firing from the hip? How effective is such a device?

As far as I know. It was basically designed for door breaching duty so you give downward force for recoil control when blowing door locks at hip level.

Not my style, but whats the cost with nothing engraved on it? Maybe its just me, but I don't get the whole zombie thing.....Must have missed the memo.

It looks good, but I just can't see myself dove hunting with it....Unless of course they're feathered zombie dove and I've yet to see any creating general mayhem.

Your laser engraving does look good and well done.

It's interesting, and I could see something like this selling, but we may have to explore some options besides Zombie killer, maybe a southern weed wacker? With a nice patriotic theme? Give us some options here.

:D

The kids today are hooked on a game called Call Of Duty black ops zombies where you fight Nazi Zombies with pistol grip shotguns. When i first saw the Mossberg Chainsaw shotgun the only thing i could think of was how it would be the ultimate movie zombie slayer shotgun so we made up the Zombie Weed Whacker with Zombieland quotes, and biohazard emblems for fun :)

we have a non engraved version in the shop for $417. the engraving added $100.00 for both sides with the 3 stickers (only 1 visible in these pics - 2 more stickers on the side of the weed whacker handle)

we can put whatever you want on the side of the gun though. Marine Corps eagle, globe, and anchor with your rank, name years of service etc, Air Force shield, Army emblem, Navy anchor, Coast Guard emblem, squadron logos, unit logos etc. Tattoo type artwork, pinup girls, battle scenes, wildlife scenes, Southern motifs, you name it, we can do it. custom design work too. About the only finish we havent been able to touch with the laser is bluing, but we do rotary engraving with a New Hermes Pantograph, or we can cut it on our CNC mill, but the laser is the most cost efficient because we do not have to buy expensive graver bits. We have even been known to do a Hello Kitty pink AR15, and a purple Care Bears AR15 for the ladies.

samples of some of the stuff we do to come, but have to recharge the battery on the camera first

We love to do fun stuff like this. As gimmicky as it seems, we have sold a few already ;)

i give it a thumbs up.

personally, when i saw the mossy weed wacker shotgun, it was one of those, "did i really just see that? thats a joke right??" imo, the whole idea is just totally ridiculous and stupid.

i think the engraving, however, adds to it. it might make it "gimmicky" but having a gimmic is better than just having a retarded shotgun. the gimmickey, hokey nature of it gives validity to the whole weed eater handle. it turned a "why would you want that" shotgun into a "i got this just because" shotgun, lol

at first i didnt quite know what to think about the Chainsaw, but after having a couple in the shop, and playing with them, i have to admit, i really like it!! With a green laser like the one in the pictures a customer of mine blows the centers out of targets at 50 yards and im told it is very pleasant to shoot, and i actually like how it feels to charge the slide. It is far better than a standard Cruiser for shooting, and it has a fantastic muzzle brake on it that reminds me of a 1 inch Milwaukee holesaw :icon_biggrin:

i forgot, i have pictures of some of the custom work we do on my cell phone, more when i get the shop camera charged.

What exactly makes it a "chainsaw" or a "weedwacker"?

I'd like to have a "Punisher" skull on my Mossberg, but $100?

BattleBornArms

The Mossberg Chainsaw is basically a Mossberg 500 Cruiser with a MAKO railed handguard on it, a weed whacker esque handle mounted to the bottom rail of the MAKO handguard, and a large breaching muzzle brake on it. I have yet to fire one, but one of my customers who has bought one told us that it shoots way nicer, and is way more controllable with the weed whacker handle than shooting a standard Cruiser shotgun because its more natural to hold it on target with the new handle?
http://www.americanrifleman.org/blogs/mossberg-500-chainsaw/

We can also do Punisher skulls, not a problem. Pricing depends on size, and where you want the image.

The shotgun in the first sets of pics was engraved on both sides with large engraving - basically 4 seperate pictures were engraved to that shotgun, plus 3 stickers were cut for it all for $100.00 which i personally think is cheap. The artwork has to be converted to code the machine understands, the images must be indexed to make certain that the machine isnt engraving over stuff you dont want engraved on like pins, or the ejection port. The shotgun must be disassembled so that it can be fit into the machine flat to the Z axis, and the shotgun must be indexed to the X and Y axis so the image is straight to the shotgun. Dry runs on blue painters tape to make certain the engraving doesnt hit pins, or safeties, or anything you dont want to hit, plus that it is straight. The dry run also exposes any issues with lines so small on the artwork that the laser cannot burn them so artwork can be redesigned before the final burn (the zombie on our gun needed some lines enlarged a couple of times on the master image before it was ready to burn because the lines were so small).

basically, there is alot of work that went into this shotgun. That shotgun basically has 4 large sized images burned into it, plus 3 stickers, all for $100.00.
other artwork is quoted by the individual piece. Punisher skulls are easy, but it all depends on where you want it on your shotgun, and the size, and type of shotgun. We are able to run the above artwork for $100.00 on Cruisers and Chainsaws because we have a jig setup to custom hold a cruiser size/style mossberg shotgun to be square with the machine, plus the artwork of the zombie has already been refined, and there is no guesswork with it anymore because we have done a few already. All other artwork is quoted by the piece, and the type of firearm.

feel free to contact us in PM to discuss it more if you wish, or if you would prefer, the guy who runs the laser engraver for us is registered here and can give you a more clear expectation on the amount of work required for what you want done.

Being able to have just about any image or wording on a firearm really appeals to me--not that I currently am contemplating any particular project. But it's the idea of a really personalized piece.

I thought the weed-whacker handle was a stupid gimmick and sticking zombie cartoons on a firearm just doesn't trip my trigger.

Now you've explained some advantages people are finding with the handle, so that's cool. And as I said, whether zombies or whatever, having your own personal thing on a gun is cool too.

I tend to appreciate creativity and individualism, whether to my taste or not. Keep it up.

We are off for the next 2 days, but starting Wednesday we are doing a custom Springfield XD for a customer that includes both laser engraving, and rotary engraving with script, and i will be sure to snap pics.

have a commitment on another Zombie Weed Whacker so that puts us down to 1 left in the shop if anybody is interested, and im not sure when our distributors will be getting more in, we were on a waiting list for a LONG time to get these. Also have a few new saiga 12s that we can customize to your hearts desire if the Saiga 12 is your prefered Zombie Defense shotgun (and you CAN mount a drum to those ;) )

I'd like to see the XD, I don't like the shotgun, but that's just my taste, I could see how it would be fun to shoot, If I had alot more money or if someone gave it to me it would be a ball, just too many things above it on the list.

Over all I like the concept with the railed fore arm, sharpened fladh hider and "weed wacker". I would love to shoot it and the price is definiitely fair with the add ons and engraving. Of course I have no need for one. My marine coat 590 works just fine and it is way too tacticool for my taste.

and here is the "Stella" XD45 we just finished today for a customer deploying to Afghanistan tomorrow

the grip has a customer supplied image of a spade wrapped in banner cut into the plastic handle
the top of the slide has a girl laser engraved into the tenifer finish of the XD (Whatever Springfield calls it - Melonite?)
and the ejection port bears the name "Stella" Engraved with a rotary engraver in script fonts.

Hope you enjoy. The customer was very happy and gave us permission to post photos of his XD

Personally I don't like having naked girls on engraved on my pistol, but the spade looks sweet. I think the craftsmanship is great! I've never seen a polymer framed pistol with that type of engraving... they are usually pretty "run-of-the-mill"!

Why do I have the feeling that down the road I am going to be spending some money? Between you and Bladeworks the quality looks good enough to start having ideas, and those ideas usually end up costing me some cash.

While i cannot speak directly for Bladeworks, i'm pretty sure he would join me in saying that if we can help you realize your custom ideas on your firearms, then please don't hesitate to ask.

We do lots of other stuff besides guns too - plaques, challenge coin displays, NCO sword displays, shadow boxes, awards, trophies, posters, stickers, custom cut grip tape, camo pattern stickers for gunkote, even skateboard wax. whatever your needs, we can probably help

we sold our remaining weed whacker at the Crossroads of the West gunshow today, and have no more Chainsaws in stock.
we would love to engrave your Chainsaw, or any other shotgun, but we currently are out of stock on Chainsaws and have no idea when we will be getting more.

Thanks to the staff at Militaryfirearm.com for allowing discussion on this for sale thread. Please be expecting more whacky off the wall custom guns from Battle Born Arms in the future
