I bought a bottle of the "1 Step Gun Cleaner and Lubricant". It claims to remove lead, powder, plastic and copper. I was getting "high" using the Sweets 7.62 all the time. This stuff works very well IMHO. It has virtually no smell, cleaned the powder residue very well and is actually pulling more out of the hidden spots.
I cleaned a CETME about a week ago and went back to check it to see what it looked like. I was running clean/dry patches before I put it up. Today, it isn't overly oily but I got 8 or 10 DRY patches out with more residue. It claims to condition the barrel and reduce fouling with continued use.
It doesn't feel synthetic but it takes several dry patches to get the oily feel off if you want a dryer weapon.
I only have an el cheapo brass rod to clean with. The sweets will do a number on it and leave a dull somewhat powdery film on it. This proshot product did leave a bit of green in a spot I missed wiping it off but the brass is very shiney and smooth.
I really like it thus far. I don't have to worry about leaving a solvent on it that can harm the metal. If I bought an old firearm that was neglected, I would clean it with Pro-Shot and leave it on for a week or so and go back over it again.
YRMV, It's taken me a while to "break" from Break-free. drine
