So Jeff,
When we gonna make use of our facilities at West Branch? This cabin fever is beginning to piss me off.

Charlie, I'm thinking of hitting the range Sunday morn, or Sat afternoon--got to get some trigger time on my Browning High Power. If Sat, I work till 1pm, if Sun, in the morning, probably.

Let me check my PDA, er, better make that the wifey, to see if I have anything scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Sunday's are out for me since I drive all the way to Highland Hts. for church services. Hopefully by then, all this snow melted away and the sloped drive to the highpower range has cleared.

Geauga County - the only "red county" in NE Ohio.
Still looking for a decent range that has open membership. I go to one in Orwell (AMD, you were there...) but it's run by clay-breakers who'll send some cranky old guy to the rifle range if they think they heard a double-tap.
What's this West Branch place? How about Tusco? I saw the Tusco website, and I'd really like to join that club. Can any of you guys hook me up?

Tusco is a range in Tuscarawas County and holds plate matches every month. Basically, they set up about 50 steel plates per lane (4 lanes) and individuals/groups go and shoot all the plates down before the others get to shoot all of theirs. It's really fun, but bring alot of ammo. You pay, IIRC, $5 to shoot all day on the rifle section and another $5 to shoot on the pistol section.
West Branch is just a members' only range out in Grafton that I am VP of. We currently have about 550 to 600 members and just held our annual meeting a couple weeks ago. New member orientation will be held in April and I'm not sure if we'll be accepting new membership again until next year. We want to make sure that crowds don't form at the ranges and since the membership has been rising, it has.

I live in Indy, which is only abt 2-2.5hrs from Wright Pat AFB, or Cincinatti. I'm a hoosier by locale, but I was born in OH. I make it to OH on my journeys further east, and I hit Cedar PT in Sandusky, WP AFB at least once in the summer, and Newport Aquarium in KY, just across the river from Cincinnati.
"plate matches every month"
-->Sounds mas cool. I also wanna make it out to knob creek this year, so be sure to lemme know when it is...
I guess what I'm saying is i may be able to make some of the OH events.
As for gun-friendly, IN is about as gun-friendly as you can get as well, but OH has the added benefit of it being leagal to carry, own, buy, sell, possess automatic knives! How cool is that?

As for the Orwell range, I still chuckle about the rapid-fire I did with my amd65 there (though I hope it didn't get you in trouble...)it was fun! Strange set-up there with the mobile home park right next door.
Send me a PM about Sat, Charlie--That would probably be the best day, and I could be there 2-ish.

Every year the geezers host a shoot where everyone gets all drunked up and start blasting clays left and right. No kidding. They have strange attitudes about what is right and wrong. At least we didn't break any laws.

Looks like the weather is gonna be pretty wet this weekend. Kindda disappointed because I had a friend load me up some rounds using titanium bullets and I wanted to test them out.

Knobcreek, Tusco is only about 30 minutes from me and I have never been there. I have a couple of friends that joined there and probably only went
there 5-6 times if that. Rumor I heard last week was that they are not
taking any new members unless someone drops out or croaks, don't know
for sure though. There is a club about 5 minutes from my house that I go
to when I feel up to it, and I plan on feeling up to it more this year. It isn't
a big place, but it has target stands at 100 and 200 yards and you can put
up your own where ever you like out to about 250-275 yards. Also there is
a 1000 yard range close to me that looks real nice, but I have never been
to it, plan on changing that too.

rep30, you don't have to be a member to shoot at the plate matches. It's open to anyone that has $5. As for getting a membership, I'll ask some of the guys I know to see what the deal is. I know with our club, we are trying to curb membership just to prevent overcrowding on the firing lines.

I've got an engineer friend who has access to machine shop where he's been experimenting at making some bullets and reloading brass for me. Told me his latest batch was using titanium and wanted to try them out. So, amd65, I maybe going to the range afterall. Gotta wait and see when my friend will be coming over. Not sure what the specs are on the rounds, but will most definately post when I find out.

You should go visit Lorain; from what I hear, it's going through a rebirth and things are getting cleaned up. I used to play league softball games on the fields just behind the armory on Rt. 57. Loved playing in that league because it was known as a tough one....our team set the record for most fights started and won....of course, I think we only won one game in that season. LOL

yep, I grew up white in the wrong hood. :) Could see US Steel from the back yard and used to visit the shipyards to get iron ore pellets for the slingshots. Back then we could head on over to the shipyards and nail the perch by the bucket full then head back home for a grillout. I have heard it has changed drastically since I left. :(

Hello all!
I am new to Ohio. Have very little idea where anything is at in Ohio at all. My wife and family have moved up from Oklahoma. My wife had lived here before although she's a Texan. I am working in Afghanistan as we speak. I need to locate places to shoot and good club type information. I am living in Port Jefferson, near Sidney. I lik eOhio, especially the winters. Ohio looks like it would be a great place to trap and varmint hunt to me.
Thanks in advance
