Ok, I thought I was ready to do this, I guess not, I got the DPMS barrel wrench for the free float tube, it fits great.

I took off the flash hider, the FSB came right off and the gas tube, put the barrel in the vise with the aluminum jaws, put the wrench on the barrel nut and... it's too big, won't engadge the teeth, WTF?? I tried the AR-wrench, way too small, so I need another wrench for this? I looked on DPMS website, not seeing anything else...Anyone?
TIA

RR, DPMS and Armalite all use a different barrel nut. Did you buy the rifle new? Maybe somebody mixed in an Armalite upper on you???

Sorry, read your OP wrong, missed that the wrench you bought was for the free float tube. The DPMS wrench for the free float tube will not fit the standard nut, as you already know,,,,you need the standard barrel nut wrench, and it is a different size than that of the AR15. Welcome to the .308 AR platform world.

Do you know the part number for this wrench? I have looked on DPMS and Brownells.
