The more I see this gun, the more I want it, Just picked up SHOTGUN NEWS and the darn thing was on the cover. I just spent half my wad of cash I saved for a gun on computer crap. Looks like Im going to sell one of my other guns in my collection I dont ever use to get an AMD. And to think, a few months ago I never even looked at AKs, now Im hooked on the commie gun. Checked earlier today and I found one at a gun shop across the river for $459,just a little high, but hell I want the dang thing.

$459 is probably not a bad deal on an AMD 65.

$459.00 is not a bad price just make sure it is not one of century's hack jobs. The barrel should look like the one that k98k792 posted. The century hack jobs look different. They are real loud and shoot alot of fire.

I've never had the big flames from my kit built amd65, but I usually shoot Golden Tiger.

Thanks nalioth, but The AMD 65 has not butt-stock eye/hook. Trying to figure some way to wrap it on. Next thing , I guess Im going to get some parachute cord and wrap around the folding stock.

When I built my amd65, I drilled through the receiver into the rear trunnion and tapped it for a detachable swivel stud. Works great, if not authentic.
By the way, I have seen several videos and news pics lately of amd65's in the hands of Afghan security forces.

The original Hungarian receivers had a slot cut in the rear of the left side. There was a metal tab with a sling swivel. The tab was inserted through the slot and the ears bent over to retain it in the receiver. Much like the Yugo arrangement.

Hmm, time to get creative. Looking at both options. Thanks guys. By the way , I noticed on the Military channel the other night that an AMD was in the hands of an Afgan soldier.

Here's a couple pics of my amd65. Right from the first time I shot it, I have felt it is an awsome CQB weapon...light, powerful, very short with the stock folded, and the forward grip mimics the rail-mount grips popular on M4's. I get very good accuracy at 100yards...a 1 litre pop bottle is in serious danger at that range.

..looks really nice and compact with that tanker mag.

Yeah, I prefer the 20-rd mags--not that I have any problem using thirties in my amd65 as reported by Kokalis in shotgun news.
When I bought my amd kit, centerfire systems ran an offer a week after I got it giving a free hungarian mag bag with four 20's, a cleaning kit, and a leather sling. I called them, and they were happy to send it to me for postage. The bag is on the table in the top photo--black naugahyde. The four mags were new.
This firearm fits in a tennis raquet bag! That's how I transport it to the range.

One of my favorites also. I preordered another kit from Copes. Get to use the DCI reciever for that one. Mine was built on a OOW,49$ Tapco kit.
1+ to AMDs CQB comment.
I added a siderail and a Kvant reddot scope.
I bet between the two of us,we have tens of thousands of rounds through them!

Nice. I considered putting a rear sight scope base or an ultimak on mine.
I really think the folks who turned these amd's into pistols are missing the full potential of the weapon. The accuracy at 100 yards is surprising.

Right on to that!
The Ultimak mount would be a great way to go on one of these.
The first time I shot it,I was not expecting much, but it seems the short barrel has little if any loss of accuracy,at least at 100yrds or under.
Jeff, have you ever tried longer ranges with it? Just curious, I have not.

No, I havn't...I used to belong to a range that had a 200 yard line, but that was a few years ago. Not too many past 100yards in this part of Ohio.

You guys stop it !!! Your making me want to take my AMD out to the range right now to try it out! My wife "wont" let me go till sunday. Is it wrong to want to take your AMD to bed with you? I mean I have a bunch more guns, but this one feels sooo good in your hands, and it looks awesome! Maybe I need help.

you might have to sell that safe queen to me! (heheeehe!)

THe compactness is what struck me abt these...it is kind why I want a sidefolder on my WASR...it's got the romy front grip, and with the folder...it'd be really compact.

I've seen those black bags but I had not idea they were for the 20rounders...I'l have to see if dph or somesuch still caries them...I'll get one fer my buddy who has a buncha the 20rounders...he likes them best.
