I'd like to mount a scope onto my G3 using a HK claw mount with the built in rings. The rings I know are 30mm. My scope has a 1" tube.

Using ring inserts should work correct? Are ring inserts hard to come by? Is there anything I should be aware of before I buy the claw mount? FYI the scope is a Bushnell Banner 3-9x 40mm, and is 12 3/8" long.

Is this for a CETME, or a G3 clone?

Is your receiver stamped or cast?

The inserts should be readily available, but some people have experienced issues with cast receivers and the fit of the claw mount. The stamped CETME receivers do not have a shelf to hold the mount from scooting forward under fire, and have had to develop an alternative.

My G3 is a Century clone w/a stamped receiver. It has the shelf and mount tabs.

Then you should be just fine.
