I've wanted one for years, just because I think they're cool, but there's really only one original bullpup. I finally decided I just had to have one, so I went and did it...

I found it at my friendly neighborhood gun shop. Some guy in Anchorage who had two of them in essentially unfired condition decided to sell them. Note that this is the earliest model imported into the U.S. The first (this one) was essentially identical to the Austrian military version except that the selective-fire capability was removed. The second version had less-expensive optics and a few minor cosmetic changes, while the third was a "post-ban" version with a "thumbhole" (aka "butthole") stock and no flash suppressor. I paid $3,500 which is not the deal of the decade, but it's not too bad either. My wife was along, and the salesman convinced her it was just what I needed for Father's Day! :icon_biggrin:

I saw these in Austria in the 80's. Very neat and I became interested in them. They claim to make a decent shooter an expert shooter. I've heard many in agreement with that. I used to see them at the shows a long time ago for @2K.
Very neat and super collectible especially since it's first gen. You done good. OBTW, you have a very NICE wife! I get the evil eye if I buy a 20.00 box of plinkin ammo!

I'm looking forward to seeing if that optical sight helps my shooting. I used to say that optical sights were for people who can't shoot; now that I'm about to turn 50, I realize that optical sights are actually for people who can't see! My wife pretty much lets me have whatever I want (but she makes $150K/year, so she can afford me ).

10's of thousands of Swiss can't be wrong! They used to issue that in the 80s IIRC, then replaced them with SIG 550-series.

The AUG has the ability to switch the eject side for use left-handed folks....cool! The AUG looked sci-fi way b4 its time.

Nice score! I've always thought the AUG's were cool guns.

Yes we do - I rememebr when they first started phasing them in and the SLRs out. The AUG is a great rifle - fun to shoot. And great if you're a Southpaw, too!

Congrats, Cavman!
