WOW! That is really cool thanks for posting. I had no idea that anyone was working on this. The only problem is I am sure they will cost an arm and a leg. Very cool though I might have to get one some day. Keep us updated.

If they cost up to the price of the SIG 550 series, I'd get the SIG.
I ain;t waiting anymore fer the freakin page to load.

I saw both US AUG clones (Microtech and PJ's) at the SHOT Show in February. Both handled nice, but they should have been on the market by now. The delay worries me.

So they aren't out yet???
If so, whats the price tag on the Semi version?

If memory serves, I thought the PJ's were going to be asking around $1800.

In the redesign they should have used the NATO(AR15) magazines.
That priority mag is the major issue with me.

No doubt. You'd think that a manufactrer would see the value in designing a gun that would use AK or AR mags.
They do see a value. It's a value for them.
They always get you on the come back.

Their website says they start at $2,100.00 with a 16 inch barrel and a 10 round magazine.

on gunbroker they're in the $1500-$2000 range :( and if you want to convert it to G-36 configuration, you'll be spending more than you would on a AUG clone or FN2000. you can buy them already converted, but they're in the $2000-$3000 range :icon_confused: they sure are nifty, but I'd rather buy something cheaper for that kind of $$$

the trigger on the aug SUCKS
you pull an insanely heavy trigger for semi auto, and pull it even harder for full auto
one trigger pull accomplishes both semi auto and full auto, its just how hard you pull it
i hate the augs trigger, besides that the gun shoots great, and is a very interesting design
hopefully they improve, or change the trigger of the new ones all together, but i HIGHLY doubt it cause they have trigger packs that are registered machine guns and everyone will want a host for there transferable pack
at least thats how i think it all goes

I had some guy at a gunshow today try to sell me one of those for 700 over MSRP. Needless to say I told him he could keep the rifle,

Exactly. I wanted one in the worst way back in the '80s and early '90s, until I actually got to put a Steyr AUG through it's paces.
Give me a quality AR any day over it.
And...why the hell Microtech went with a proprietary magazine is beyond all reason. :slap:

The company building the STG-556 said they've been working on making it a better trigger, and plan to have a kit for sale in the next year or so to lighten it even further for the target market.
I read a review of it in Weapons for Law Inforcement a couple months back, and it looks pretty sweet, and the reviewer said it's a world of difference between the original and the new one as far as triggers go. The scope is also removeable and a rail can be attached in it's place, and as far as mags go, the Steyr design is much tougher than a USGI M-16 mag, run over with trucks and still works type.

That's prettymuch where they got the idea for the P-mags.
Anybody else notice that P-Mags are getting to be cheaper than USGI too?
