So I've had this Remington 700 SPS in .243 for a couple of years, decked it out with a nice Leupold scope and a Bell and Carlson Medalist "Varmint" stock. But the damndest thing is it will vertically string down when it gets hot. Now I'm sure I could probably have Remington deal with it even though it took me a while before I really put it through its paces and found this, but I was halfway planning on having a gunsmith rebarrel it with a stainless match (or one step down) .243 bull barrel anyways.
So here's my question, who does a good job at a reasonable price? I looked at one of the major manufactures, Shilen I believe, and the total would have been at least $800. Is that reasonable? It's a nice gun, but I already doubled the damn cost of the gun by adding the stock and scope! :icon_biggrin:
