i got the version before that one with the large IR lamp

if i had it to do all over again knowing what i know now, i would not have bought it. The image intensifier tubes have a shelf life based on hours and even though mine did turn on and work, it did not work well, and im certain it was because it was old. There are no spare parts on the market for them either. You are not going to be able to replace the tube when it goes out so then all you are left with are expensive parts that dont really do much but look cool.
seeing as how that is Gen 2 it might work better than the one i had, but i would be leary

The ones that Copes has sold out really quickly on the first bunch. A lot of them went to forum members on WG. I'm really tempted, especially since Copes started a wholesale site copeswholesale.com. Once registered the price drops a bit.

Night vision is 2k-4k, who can afford it but the goverments(you and me) spending our tax dollars. Put an eyepatch on for a full day and then pull it off about 10:00 pm and you will have good night vision. Go out out at night in the yard and wait about 25 minutes and your eyesight adjusts. I spent my entire childhood coon hunting and that is the way it is.

Just don't focus straight in front of your eyes. Look just out side of center vision for the best night vision

I got one from copes. I would consider the external condition as good. Some scratched off paint and the sticker on the side from the manufacturer was a little torn up. I tested it out last night in an area where i was in a clearing looking about 250 to 400 yards towards the woods. I could easily make out everything and a bridge across the creek about 400 yds away. It really did a good job. Better than my russian made bushnell night vision. I was really impressed. The only thing is that from 0-50 yards the focus is terrible blurry but im sure it wasnt designed for short range, beyond that range it was great. I just left the focus on infinity for the best results. Im sure if i had it on my gun and zeroed i could have been shooting targets out to 300 yds. Also is it normal for the firefly like appearance in the middle of the scope? Is this why it was surplused? It was just like faint fireflys blinking on and off right in the center of the field of view.
