traded a handgun and my olympic arms beater for a colt hbar match target with a scope and a few boxes of shells. Scope is a bec 3x9 lighted cross hair with a trajectory compensator on it. I know nothing about these scopes but im betting its a cheapy. Threw in a couple boxes of black hills match ammo. Seems like a nice gun but my knowlege of ars is about limited to pulling the trigger.

Ouch, You gave up a 629? I would rather save up for the Colt than give up my 629.

I have a Colt Match HBAR 6601 1/7 and it is a tack driver, I have never had
any trouble with it, you will be happy with it. I have a load worked up for
the 60g Sierra Varminter bullet that will put five rounds in a dime, when I'm
having a good day. It has the rubber coated scope that Tasco made for the
AR's on it.

mines carbine lenght with a retract stock and a stailess barrel. Shoot about the same though. Real tack driver. Many groups with the siera 60 hp and the 60 horn. amax under an inch at a 100 yards. Ive put over 600 rounds through it in the last two days. Mixed loads from 50 amaxs to ball to 80 grain sierras and it hasnt missed a beat. Needs a trigger job badly though. But it looks like its a keeper!!

So, Winky. You have the N-frame bug also? I have 7 and have room in the collection for more.

as long as there 3 or 4 inchers. I had one 5 inch 4440 it was ok but i just couldnt get used to that much barrel on one and didnt want to whack it off as it was a low production gun so passed it on to a freind that appreciates it. Personaly if i could only one one gun period it would be a 4 inch 44 smith of some sorts.

Have you ever cleaned an AR? If not, I found out the hard way to never use grease to lube it. In the end I found that Break Free with CLP was the best cleaner and lube for my AR. I am sure there are other lubes that are as good or better, but the Break Free is what I found worked best for me.

+1 on Breakfree... It leaves a nice undercoat of thin lube and the rifle or handgun gets easier to clean too...

tell you what im a big fan of is tetra oils and grease. I used them for quite a while in the 1911s and have found nothing better. Ive also used the oil in all of my ars and never found it lacking

The M-16 / AR family of rifles is a dirty dirty thing. The gas piston and the bolt are one in the same. There is a little tube that vents exhaust gases from the front sight into the bolt assy to cycle the unlock the bolt.
As a result, it means fewer moving parts. However, in the presence of grease and some oils, it turns the exhaust gas and grease and/or oil into a sticky goo. This is the reason you want to watch what lube to use in the rifle.
I found that the internals were a lot cleaner after a shooting session when I used Break Free with CLP as opposed to some other oils I tried. Find out what works best for you and be happy.
