Thinking of building an AR SBR 11.5 inch Barrel!

Maybe starting with an Spike lower receiver? I have a friend that has one and I really like it!

Trying to built as nice of a rifle for up to $800.00 dollars or so.

Any opinons and pictures are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

i had a 11.5 and a 10.5 uppers on my pistol ar on a bench and sighted in, was disappointed with the accuracy i would rather have a 6.8spc in 12inch. the 6.8 was designed for shorter barrels good luck. about the $800 thats gonna be tough tax stamp, fees, and dealer cost will be at least $300 that leaves you with $500 to spare.

I meant $800.00 just for the rifle + the Tax stamp.

Its only for CQB and Maybe up to 50 yards!

I will shoot one first before I build one!

Thanks for your input, and if any one outs has some experience please chime in!
I want to hear all of your comments and experiences with these Short Rifles before I jump in to one.

Thanks, HKILLER

we have Aero Precision lowers (the same people who make the receivers for Armalite, and Spikes) that we sell in the shop, and they are great lowers.

we also have an 11.5" upper that we use on our machine gun. I have been less than impressed with the reliability of most SBR ARs. We are still having trouble with our 11.5" We have added an oring under the extractor for stronger grip on the cases, and we have upgraded to an H2 buffer. I hope that solves the problems we are having. If not we will move up to an H3 or an Enidine buffer.

We have a factory Noveske Diplomat N4 7.5" rifle in the shop that worked flawlessly out of the box, but it is a very expensive rifle, and has the flaming piggie muzzle brake on it which is supposed to help with cycling on a SBR????? not sure if thats true, but the Noveske worked out of the box and it only had a H2 buffer in it and 7.5"
we also had an ASA 7.5" with the clone flaming piggie that wouldnt work without the Oring and an Enidine buffer.

forget about accuracy with the SBR. Those are for fun. Save the long range work for your 20"

Thanks for your Honest advise, after listening to you and a few others around town I will abandon the Idea of building one, I don't want any firearm just for fun!

Thanks once again!

i should mention that a 9mm sbr would be fun and inexpensive to shoot. i am having a 7.5 in 9mm upper made for my pistol ar.

My gun shop has a very nice Olympic Arms AR Pistol; no buffer tube the recoil assembly is on top. They want $1,200 but I bet they'd work with you. A nice pistol; I know, I traded it in!

Don't shoot it around your neighbors. I like freedom but responsibility keeps me from shooting my weapons in our neighborhood (not in a city limits). It is legal though, I just err on the side of good judgement. The reason I say this is that my neighbor bought an AR pistol and that is one loud SOB. I thought he was shooting his LAR308.

I have an LMT built 10 1/2 barrel, sbr. perfect functioning rifle and never had an isswue with it, can hit IDPA style targets all day at 100yds with the irons, using a red dot it will group at 3 to 6 inches depending on ammo, for about a grand you get the complete matched package.
And like Drine said, they are loud!
