With the current political climate, it is my opinion that the two frontrunners for Pres. (Clinton & Guiliani) will both push for another assault weapons ban.
I think now is a good time to stock on magazines, ammo, AR-15 Receivers.
What do you guys think about this subject? While it is nice having a big gun collection when prices are driven up by politics, it sucks for the guy (or girl) who is just getting into it. I think it would be a good idea to slowly prepare for another ban.
My gut feeling is that if the next one passes, it will NOT have the 10 year sunset provision, thus being permanent this time.
If everyone on this board took $500 and bought an AR-15 receiver, a case of ammo and 10 magazines I think that would be money well spent IMHO. I hope to buy a couple of additional receivers to go ahead and build some guns for the future.

I think it's time NOT to stock up and panic buy but to get on the phone and write a letter or two to your congress critters and also get involved with your political party of choice now rather than after the fact. It's better for all of us if the ban never happens because we were on the ball with the political end of things.

Been doing all that for years. Including making campaign contributions. Much to my chagrin, both my Congressmen and my Senator, are now died in the wool Democrats.
I say hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

I gotta agree, I'll probably be buying mainly ammo and mags this year. And while I keep putting on a new pistol purchase, I'm thinking those could end up on a banned list as well.

What, you just started? :icon_biggrin:
I've been doing this fer a while. I get nervous if I dip below 1000 rnds 4 any one long gun I own.
I think I'm planning ahead but Planning...he's got counties covered.:2pistol:
Also been writing to local and others.
Recently, The county I live in voted a silly law on banning discharing fireams in the city limits and the county down 16-8, which was cool...arguments being that we should 'enforce the laws on the boox already' (i.e., the reckless endangerment w/firearm laws already there). The bill was gonna shut a lotta outdoor ranges down, but leave indoor ones alone. There are some NRA-sponsored outdoor ranges int he area, so th heavy hitters did turn out.
