Hmmmmm.... lets see.... $1200 for one 50rd drum...or...$9.00 for three 20rd HK91 mags. $1200 divided by 50rds= $24/round....or I could by a thousand (quantity discount) 20rd G3 mags= $0.06/round.
Let me ask my wife and see if she thinks I should buy the drum.
By the way... anyone wanting 1000 G3 mags, please contact me at bill@gearshanty.com for quantity discount.

Well, now that I've stopped laughing for a few minutes ... I recall Perro saying last year that these could be ordered new through HK USA for around $1,000 (I think that was the price - it was pretty extravagent, whatever it was).

I wonder what they cost when orginally made for military use, I imagine something like a small fraction of what they want for them now.

I could get many many cool rifles and ammo with 1200...or this?!?!?!
C'mon. Drums are for thompsons and RPKs, Ppsh's and such.
The price is NOT rite.

Damnit.....Might be a new project to throw in the pile. Could probably use the internals from an AK drum, and new sheet metal for the rest.....with a steel G3 mag butchered for the feed tower.

Would hate to see butchering of mags that are already valueable to make something that has been promiced for over a year now.

I remember that, I believe it was COK that made it.

No Dinty Moore cans here. I'd use better steel than that. I have a couple AK drums, and I got a couple steel G3 mags in my order from RTG. $300 for 200 mags shipped... It was just a thought. Besides, I just bought a new house, and I dunno if there will be much time for fun projects for the next couple months...

Heres a shortcut to the promiced new drums, if they make it for the m1a, they can adapt it to the cetme/g3

Ferget teaching hold, aim & squeeze.....In the true military spirit lets get rid of hold and aim and keep squeeze in there along with reload and repeat. 50rds is a little ridiculous. Though fun I'm sure....

I imagine the drums, were made for application for a saw, but I dont think many armies adopted the G-3 as a saw, proably due to the lack of quick change barrel. Just as the us abandoned the saw based on the M-14. Without a way to cool the barrel, you just have another rifle in the line, with larger capicty for short bursts.

I think the drums were made for the HK11 - which did have a quick-change barrel. Though, I don't think many countries adopted it aside from Greece.
The belt-fed HK23 got many rave reviews, though few sales as well.

Proably hard selling HK expensive saws, compared to the plethoria of MG3 and earler variants in europe.
