Can a Bushmaster 7.62x39 Upper be used on a 5.56 lower?

It seems that all that is needed is upper, barrel, bolt carrier and magazine?

Am I missing anything? I'm considering purchasing another upper so I can shoot up all this cheap ammo.

Thanks

No, you'll need a 7.62x39 lower, too.

OR, you can use your standard 5.56 lower with AR mags designed for 7.62x39. Problem with that is supposedly the only ones that work well are the USA mags (yeah, I know, but the AR 7.62 mags are apparently the only mags that USA has ever made that actually work) and they are rarer than hens teeth and expensive when you find them.

i think i have a few of those mags some where that i am not using. how much are those "rarer than hens teeth and expensive" worth ?

Didn't he just say that he put a .223 upper on his 7.62AK marked lower and it worked fine?

WM 69 has it straight. There is one type of lower that uses Ak mags, and another that uses AR type mags.

Call model 1 sales and talk to them. You need the upper, bolt, and mags and that's it I believe. I had one in 6.8, but I sold it due to ammo cost and availability and I have spoken to M1S about replacing it with the 7.62X39 upper. Now if you want the .308 upper you'll need the .308 lower as well as they are not interchangeable.

I had a Colt upper, it worked great on my Eagle Arms Ar-15 lower, and you can use regular AR mags, they will work fine, but you can't fit as many rounds in them, I think I could get like 12 rounds in a 30 rd mag.

Last I saw the USA 7.62x39 frankenmags (they look like a AR mag welded to an AK mag) the guy wanted $75 EACH for them. There are others available but from what little I've seen on the subject the USA mags are the only ones that are reliable in the reg AR lower.
A USA mag that works......that's gotta be a sign of the apocalypse.
